Gentiana Dahurica " Great garden gentian " Gorgeous deep blue flowers in clusters in Spring. G.Dahurica is a low , branching species forming a tidy 30cm x 30cm mound of dark green foliage thriving in full sun or light shade in cool to cold climates. Easier to grow and germinate unlike many other similar snow melt plants and does not seem to have the almost freezing chilling requirements for good germination. Sow seed in Winter or early Spring for best results , grows well in any good garden soil with plenty of water in Spring. Not recommended for warm frost free climates. Germination usually occurs in Spring after 2 to 3 weeks of chilling , resulting seedlings should never be allowed to dry out completely.
