"Watch out for the tree-slammin', elephant-callin' action -- all the fun of the original and more!" (Mark S. Allen, UPN-TV). The wild adventure and comedy that families and critics went bananas for continue with everyone's favorite characters in GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE 2. When we last saw George, he and his bride Ursula were living in wedded bliss in the peaceful jungle. Unfortunately, all this is about to change. Scheming mother-in-law Beatrice Stanhope is not about to let her daughter and grandson hang around with the klutzy King of the Jungle forever. In an elaborate plot, she teams with Ursula's obsessive ex-fiance Lyle to hypnotize Ursula into leaving George and turn his jungle to mulch! That's when all vines lead to Las Vegas. There, George, Ape, Shep, and Tookie-Tookie must rescue Ursula, and then swing back to save the jungle from Lyle's bulldozing bullies. You'll go ape when these jungle jesters come together for irresistible all-new family entertainment.

Though half the cast has changed from the first George of the Jungle, the silliness and self-referential jokes remain--for example, in an unusual display of professional honesty, Christopher Showerman explains to the audience that he's the new George because the producers were too cheap to re-hire Brendan Fraser. While a mean lion (voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan, The Green Mile) connives to take over running the jungle world, George's wife Ursula (Julie Benz) is imperiled when her mother and her former fiancé (Thomas Haden Church, returning from the first movie) scheme to bring her back to civilization through kidnapping and hypnosis. Though George of the Jungle 2 aims its combination of goofy humor and computer-generated animals at kids, the camera spends a lot of time ogling Showerman's buffed body. --Bret Fetzer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

George of the Jungle returns in this sequel to the hit 1997 movie. Only this came to video and dvd, and it is misses at least 2 people from the first film, but for some Thomas Halden Church returns in this movie, along with John Cleese and Keith Scott who provides the narrator's voice. But this time, Disney decided to take a live action movie, and make a sequel out of it, usually they do this with animated movies. As the movie opens, George of the Jungle (Christopher Showerman replacing Brendan Fraser). And now he is king of the jungle, and has to divide time for both the animals and his wife Ursula (Julie Benz) and son Junior (Angus T. Jones), and usually he ends up late for things for his family including lunch! But one day, George's mother-in-law Beatrice Stanhope (Christina Pickles) comes to the jungle for her grand son's birthday, and has secretly has plans, to return her daughter and her grand son to cvilian, and reunite Ursuala with her ex-fiance Lyle (Thomas Haden Church). While Lyle has plans win the deed for Ape Mountain, fro Ape (John Cleese) who is now in Las Vegas, during a poker game, Lyle hides in disquise, and plays, Ape, and cause him to go broke, and when Lyle suggests to play for the deed to Ape Moutnain, he reveles his doesn't have it, and that it belongs to George of the Jungle. And has serious debt, and has to work in a casino for 17 years. And when George learns that Ape is in trouble, he goes to Las Vegas to talk to Ape, becuase Geroge thinks that Ursuala is not happy in the jungle.

I wanted to see this movie for two reasons. The first is that my daughter and I both really enjoyed the first film, with Brendan Fraser as George and Leslie Mann as Ursula. The fact that neither of these actors reprised their roles didn't bother me, especially since the second reason I wanted to see this film was because this time, one of my all-time favorite actresses, Julie Benz, would be playing Ursula. I was disappointed on both counts.
First off, this film is really, really bad. Okay, I expected it to not match up to the first film, since few sequels do, and rarely does a movie that skips the theater and goes straight to video have much going for it. But this one took the prize. The jokes are contrived and overworked - in the first 20 minutes of the film, the same three jokes were recycled several times, and they stopped being funny after the first time they were told. And then there's Christopher Showerman's performance as the "new George". The film does have a few moments of fun with the Brendan Fraser lookalike's appearance in this film (including a jab that the studio was to cheap to hire the now-superstar Fraser for the sequel), and newcomer Showerman shows signs of being a fine actor in his own right. But he works way to hard trying to be Brendan Fraser, and the simple fact is, he isn't - no one is. Fraser brought a certain magic to the role the Showerman never manages to capture, no matter how much he may look or act like his predecessor. He'd have probably been easier to stomach had he tried to develop his own version of the character, the way Fraser managed to take the original cartoon character and make the part his own.
The other disappointment was Julie Benz. In interviews, Benz had said the reason she wanted to do this movie is because she wanted to do comedy.

I'm not one to go into a movie that's meant to be silly, expecting shakespere. But like a lot of comedy sequels, the jokes were too set up and too planned instead of coming from the situatution. Angus T. Jones was sweet as Junior and didn't get enough screentime, Julie Benz is a wonderful actress but suffers in this role, Chris Showerman would have made a fine 'new' George with a better script, as would Thomas Haden Church returning as Lyle. But everyone suffers do to a bad and very unfunny story that attempts to manipulate you into laughing. But beyond the line about the reason for a new 'George', I barely laughed at all. And I certainly didn't believe in George and Ursula's love despite the extremely idiot situations (though I did in the first film). There's silly so funny you watch it over and over again (first George of the Jungle film) and silly so stupid you never want to see it again (the sequel). Even the kids, who loved the first film, didn't laugh much watching this one. And they kept wondering why the all important Junior was conviently dropped from the middle of the story only to magically jump in again at the end. This movie was one of the worse Disney sequels ever made.

The first George of the Jungle was so silly, it was kind of cute and at times funny, helped by Brendan Frazer, this sequel, minus Frazer,is so silly it is actually unwatchable.
Any comedy whether silly or not should have an absolute minimum, to be funny, and George of the Jungle 2 is actually every word you can think of but the F word.
After 15 minutes of listening to the very annoying narrative talking about the old movie, the new movie, Disney etc...you want to give up watching movies altogether and watch CNN!!(this is how bad it is)
Even the delightfully charming and pretty Julie Benz could not save an awful direction and script.
If you like silly comedies, and want the F back in films then the market is full of well made and very funny examples, like Top Secret,Naked Gun, and the classic Carry On Up the Jungle (an all time favorite of mine), but trust me this film should be avoided at all costs!
