About the Author

Eva Hart was one of the most outspoken survivors concerning the Titanic's lack of sufficient lifeboats and of any salvage attempts of the Titanic after its discovery in 1985. She lived for many years in Chadwell Heath in London and died in 1996. Professor Ron Denney and Eva were friends for many years and he aided her in writing up her memories. Ron Denney lives in Sevenoaks.

Bought this book and was looking forward to reading about the time on the ship and the immediate aftermath...but there was little of that time period and the majority of the book was about her adult life and travels. I also found several spelling errors in the book. A very disappointing read. Don't waste your money.

I'd recommend this read to anyone who has an interest in Titanic. The first part covers Eva's personal accounts, which from at the time when she was a child, is very interesting to read. From there she covers her life growing up after the sinking, which is interesting by itself. This covers a great portion of the book, so don't be expecting the whole book to be 100% Titanic related. It does however go back to covering Tianic related topics post-sinking and discovery in Eva's elderly years. I have a great deal of respect for Eva and her accomplishments in life, and at times you will see how she ties things into the sinking. There's also bonus pictures and accounts at the end which are exactly that, a nice bonus (including a bonus chapter from her mother's account). I didn't give the book 5 stars because it is all one perspective and I feel trying to recollect childhood stories from 80+ years there could be some haze lost in truth, plus at times in the middle of the book it can feel a little drug out. But even at a 4 star rating it is well worth the purchase and time spent reading.

I am grateful Eva was willing to share memories of her very private last moments with her father. A terribly sad tragedy, but some improvements in safety regulations and technology come because of this. Lots of details about her life after Titanic, and a good deal of "back-patting" actually, but still I would have liked to meet her.
