The Sheriff of Nottingham learned the hard way: Don't mess with Maid Marian!

Thirteen-year-old Maid Marian is on her first adventure with young Robin of Loxley (the future Robin Hood).

The Sheriff of Nottingham has thrown Marian’s father into the dungeon, and only Marian can save her father from the hangman’s noose.

Marian proves herself the cleverest of heroes as she takes on a pack of hungry wolves, murderous thieves, and the Sheriff’s loyal soldiers. She also solves a heart-wrenching mystery—the disappearance of her mother, missing for three years and presumed dead.

Stephen Mooser did a wonderful job of bringing Marian and Robin to life as kids. Their adventures are exciting, fun, and believable as they overcome their fears to rescue Marian's father and fight the evil Sheriff (who even then was not at all a nice person). The characters are interesting and keep you reading and rooting for them until the last page.

HASH(0x9f96d4bc) out of 5 stars You Go Girl! March 19 2003
By J. D. Fegler - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a great book to encourage a can-do attitude in young girls. It is the story of Robin Hood, told from Maid Marion's point of view. She is a feisty, smart heroine and the story is exciting. Naturally, Marion saves the day! Good as a read-aloud book, or for a capable young reader.

HASH(0x9f96d5a0) out of 5 stars A fast-paced adventure April 12 2012
By laurie cameron - Published on Amazon.com

When thirteen-year-old Maid Marian learns of the most recent round of levies that will leave her friends and villagers destitute, she cooks up a plan, with Robin's help, to turn the tax collectors' bounty into sticks and dirt and, yes, poop while returning the goods to the people. But her plan backfires with the sheriff of Nottingham learns of it and goes at her home to arrest her. Only her father's gold saves her from the dungeon. But she has another trick up her sleeve to get that gold back. Thus begins an adventure in which Maid Marian pits her will against the powerful sheriff whose greed is impoverishing the people.

The story is fast-paced and full of escapades and near misses with the sheriff's men. My only problem was that Maid Marian and Robin seemed to have more guts than brains. Some of their antics seemed downright silly. But if that doesn't bother the young reader, then he or she will find the book highly entertaining. This book is suitable for all middle grade readers.

I also read this ebook to ensure it was age appropriate for my 7 year-old and I loved it! I really liked the "girl power" theme. We are constantly telling my daughter that females can be and do anything and are looking for books, movies, etc. that support this. Great job Stephen Mooser!

I selected this book to read for my 10 year old granddaughter. It was a cute story without being too "over-the-top fantasy". I approved of the book and my granddaughter liked it also.
