1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously? This is rather dark and disturbing for a book aimed at young children. May 21 2016

I borrowed this book from the library to preview it before buying it for my son and I'm so glad that I did, it's pretty awful. The author should have considered the audience of this book before including some of the darker, disturbing details. It was completely unnecessary to the story line. I kept waiting for their to be a "lesson learned," a "moral," or a "changed heart," but that never happened. This is like reading the "bad guys" version of history and it's pretty awful and inappropriate for younger kids, in my opinion. I like several other books in this Historical Tales series, but the books written by Terry Deary are all like this. It's pretty much the "disturbing and awful" version of history.
