To reiterate, the book is incredibly well organized. Alton Brown is a well-tuned master of the culinary/entertainment arts. The book reflects back on the first 6 seasons of his show Good Eats. It enhances or alters some of the recipes and ideas from the show and has added some new ones.

The book references other parts of itself very smoothly. The behind the scenes quips, stories, and tips are worth the price of admission alone.

If Alton seems like he is a man who is full of himself ... he has every right to be.

Can't wait for the second book.

This book (and the whole series of Good Eats books) are a wonderful source of information as well as recipes and are suitable for the beginner/novice cook. The humour from the show comes through on the pages, and the little factoids included on many types of foods are super fun and interesting. I read this book like a novel, and have tried several of the recipes. Makes cooking seem 100% fun and 0% chore.

It is nice to cook but doing it 'robotically'...as most of us do is kind of wasting the real nature of cooking, Alton breaks this barrier by opening our minds by dissecting the processes involved in cooking by explaining it in a way that does not require a PHD in science and surely teach us stuff that makes us more aware of the beauty and joy of cooking, from the ingredients to methods....you will never cook the same after reading his book series...as a bonus his humoristic style will grow on you like poison ivy so much you won't stop reading till the last page..and get his next book!. Thank Alton!
