Where Vancouver (Where Vancouver 2012-12-03)

A gorgeous book ... Eating a raw food diet fits into the increasingly popular slow food movement, the idea that we need to slow down, enjoy and fully appreciate how and with what we are nourishing our bodies. Gorilla Food makes it easier to do just that.
Vancouver is Awesome (Vancouver is Awesome 2012-12-11)

Not just vegan but raw and organic, this cookbook from an acclaimed Vancouver restaurant chef is a delightful surprise: temptingly inventive, beautifully photographed and formatted, and accessible for anyone (not just raw foodies or vegans) wanting to cook more healthfully.
Delicious Living (Delicious Living 2012-12-20)

Aaron Ash has an approach to food that is totally unique. The result is a collection of dishes that have every bit of living energy, every vitamin, and every enzyme intact.
—Randy Shore, Vancouver Sun (Vancouver Sun 2012-12-20)

This is not a book I would use alot. Too much dehydrating limited creativity. Maybe others would really like this book but we are new to raw and vegan and this book seems quite limited.

AMAZING! Whether you consider yourself a raw vegan or just want to incorporate more whole foods into your diet, this is the book to help you do that. We have tried a majority of the recipes and have found each one to be unique and more importantly, delicious (even our one and four year-olds like them)! Each meal leaves us feeling fulfilled and wanting to try more! The recipes/dishes tends to be comprised of different components that are used in different capacities in other recipes. If one was organized, one could make a meal plan and make some components ahead, in larger amounts, to be used in other recipes later in the week. This cookbook will be a great addition to any kitchen and may even introduce you to some new (super)foods!

I love raw food as it gives you a chance to find new and endless possibilities and toget creative with your food as well as rejuvenate your health. This book can be a bit intimidating if your new to super foods and more "different " foods but it's still awesome. Most recipes are a bit time consuming as it's based off their restaurant in Vancouver but I think it's worth it. I you are a raw foodists I wouldn't base most your meals off this book though because they are gourmet raw and use lots of nuts and seeds which can be on the heavier side( the book still contains simple salads and smoothies that are delicious too)
Some of my favourites from the book include:
Fruit salad with cashews hemp seeds and hemp seed nogurt
Green cashew coconut curry sauce
Oh my gado peanut sauce (to die for)
Citrus mint salad dressing
Hemp seed basil pesto
Salt and vinegar zucchini chips
Spicy zucchini chips
Rawsome newdles
Sunny buckwheat pizza crusts
Maui waui pizza
Peanut selectah pizza
Chocolate fudge
Helio tropic smoothie
Leo's lala land cardomon and carrot sylk
Cashew chocolate milk
3 of my family members have also gone to Aaron's restaurant and have thoroughly enjoyed it!

I've loved eating at Gorilla Food here in Vancouver for many years and now I'm glad to make some of the same recipes at home. This cookbook has quite a few recipes and unlike other raw food cookbooks I've bought in the past, it's not just shakes, nut milks and crackers. Worth picking up. Also I'm not a raw foodist but I still enjoy the food on occasion.

This book is a piece of art. The recipes are delicious and healthy. If you are wanting healthy food that tastes great I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Aaron's book. And if you are the type who 'reads' cookbooks, it fits the bill for that too.
It has become my go-to book for gifting to others. I have yet to have a disappointed recipient.

Gorilla Food is an awesome compilation of the many diverse, exciting and delicious recipes showcased at the Vancouver-based Raw Vegan restaurant Gorilla Food. Having eaten at the restaurant many times I know that these recipes are outrageously delicious, totally health-conscious and absolutely addictive.
Half the battle on the road to great health and vitality is education, once the intellectual foundation is laid you only have to live your life the way you would and the little bits and pieces you've picked up will create an avalanche effect in your life.
It's no secret that raw food is packed with nutrition, energy and life! So the more recipes you have under your belt and the more little tips and tricks you can use in the kitchen the better. After reading this (and implementing into my own life) I'm finding eating totally raw meals at a frequent basis very easy and also enjoyable.
Check it out, eat something new, throw a raw-vegan party for your friends, it's fast, easy, delicious and dope as hell.

I have personally made many of these recipes, many times, and they are all incredible!
The Thai Wraps especially while time consuming are worth the effort.
The raisen chutney is addictive!

Do yourself a huge favour though & buy a dehydrator and a decent food processor also, get serious about making good-for-you food then get uncooking!

Pros:
*Delicious & creative recipes
*Variety
*Emphasis on quality ingredients
*From Gourmet to Simple recipes
*Professional Raw Chef Tested!-the ingredient combos work!

Cons: only one
*several recipes require multiple & lengthy prep steps.

There is no doubt that the recipes here are delicious. A lot of care goes into making the dishes. However, often to make one dish it typically refers you to often a couple other dishes to make to use as ingredients as well. So the recipes look short until you realize that you have to make a lot more than what it appears. Also very but based. I stopped using the book because the ingredients are not cheap. All in all it is too time consuming to make the food. Often incredibly labour intensive. And it easy to blow 100 dollars on Ingredients to make one of his recipes. I would rather go to his resteraunt and have him do it for me.
