PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

If you’re a fan of Bella Andre, Susan Andersen, Rachel Gibson, Jennifer Crusie, and Janet Evanovich, then step into the world of Jennifer Skully!

If you missed it the first time around, KOD Daphne winner “Sex and the Serial Killer” is back with a new title, “She’s Gotta Be Mine”, and a slight text revamp. It’s still laugh-out-loud funny, peopled with hilarious characters in the small town of Cottonmouth, California. Not to mention an alleged serial killer who’s too devilishly handsome to ignore.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Dumped? For her husband’s high school sweetheart he hasn’t seen in twenty years? Roberta Jones Spivey isn’t going to lay down for that. Instead, she reinvents herself and the new Bobbie Jones—new haircut, new name, new attitude—follows her soon-to-be ex to the small Northern California town of Cottonmouth.

What better way to show him—and his sweetheart—what he’s missing in the brand new Bobbie Jones than taking up with the town’s local bad boy—who’s also reputed to be a serial killer. Nick Angel is devilishly handsome and sexy as all get-out. In a word, perfect.

It’s all going exactly according to plan...until a real murder rocks the little town of Cottonmouth. Of course, Nick didn’t do it...did he?

“She’s Gotta Be Mine”, previously published as “Sex and the Serial Killer”, is a contemporary romance of approximately 100,000 words / 400 pages.

The book contains the following bonus material:

Excerpts from “Dead To The Max” and “Kinky Neighbors” by Jasmine Haynes and “Baby, I’ll Find You” by Jennifer Skully

Roberta has been married for 15 years but their marriage has become stale in the last few years. When her husband, Warren, sees a psychiatrist he is told to find his high school sweetheart so he can find closure since he never got over her. Roberta helps him find her so he goes to meet the old flame in the small town of Cottonmouth. He decides to stay with the girlfriend, Cookie.

Roberta is stunned by this and doesn't know what to do. Finally she decides to remake herself head to toe and even her personality. She decides the new person she is now is not a Roberta so starts to go by the name of Bobbie. After quitting her job and ending all ties in the city, she moves to Cottonmouth to show her ex what he gave away and get control of her life. When she rents a house across from a serial killer, Nick, she thinks he will be the perfect man to have sex with and rub it in her ex's face.

I enjoyed this book and all the twists of who was using who and why. The murder surprised me but I loved the way the author took the reader through many suspects before we find out who the murderer actually was. The characters were great (except for my minor annoyance with Bobbie's self doubt). The hunky neighbor Nick was a great guy that I really liked. I felt bad for him being so unfairly treated by the town. Warren was such a wimp and treated Roberta so badly that I just couldn't like him. And he was pretty dumb on top of everything else! He confessed to the murder even though he didn't kill the guy! Cookie was a self centered witch that we aren't suppose to like and I didn't.

I liked this romantic suspense with it's fun plot twists and recommend it.

This story had a little of everything. It was almost as though the author had a number of plot ideas and couldn't decide what she wanted. It is fair to say it became a bit unbelievable as Roberta turned into femme fatale Bobbie and the town was charmed by her even when she attended church wearing a totally inappropriate dress. Her friendship with Nick "serial killer" Angel was even worse!
Within two days, she has a house and a job (waitressing) and the attention of two eligible sexy men. The story picked up for me when she set about solving the murder of Jumbo.

It will never win a prize as a great work of fiction but as a freebie I didn't find it a waste of time. I may read the sequel if the price is reasonably cheap. I almost hate to say I would recommend it.. but as a freebie it was enjoyable enough to keep my reading.

Readers need to take the "sexy" in the book description seriously, as there were pages and pages of clinically described sex acts to be skipped over. However, the heroine is a fascinating woman struggling with a very real desire to own her own power and stop knuckling under in an attempt to be loved; the hero is a loveable man with more to give than most people saw; the town is a delightful nest of gossip-mongers and people who care about each other like family. I enjoyed all the pages I didn't skip over. While this would be considered a light read, it still had meaning. I found it well worth reading.
