I bought this kindle book for my son who just loves the English cricket squad. We are from Melbourne, Australia so that is quite unusual in itself. As he was reading it and relating some of the funny stories. I decided to read it also. What I found was a book that was funny, warm and written with a down-to-earth wry sense of humour that is apparently the trademark of this classic spin bowler. I have never read a biography of a cricketer before and I thought that I never would, but this book is well worth the read, especially if your taste is for the more human and less glizty substance. After reading this I can understand why my son (13 years old) really loves the English squad (despite being Australian). This book is filled with hilarious anecdotes entwined with glimpses into the personal life of Graeme Swann. His self-depricating sense of humour is refreshing compared with the win-at-all-costs mentality that characterises some of my countrymen. It is also good to see that this attitude does not preclude achieving success!
