HASH(0x9f1c0390) out of 5 stars Great resource Feb. 17 2015

I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology, one of my favorite all time stories is the Odyssey. Aside from my favorite and some of the more common ones everyone knows, I wasn't too brushed up on some of the other less talked about ones. Adrian has provided us with a great guide on most of the Greek myths. This is a fantastic resource for a paper if you're writing one.
HASH(0x9f1c05dc) out of 5 stars Completely uninformative March 25 2015

This was an incredible sham of a book and a total waste of money. With my limited knowledge of Greek mythology, I could've written a better accounting in about 30 minutes. Please do not present these sophomoric pamphlets masquerading as a book any longer. Do not buy this "book"!
HASH(0x9f1c05a0) out of 5 stars Not even enough to pique one's interest to read more! A real yawner. March 16 2015

The book is nothing more than literal laundry list of various Greek gods their parents, etc. Unfortunately, the litanies are incomplete. Further, all you get is the name with neither any telling of why they are important nor the myths that made them real to the Greeks.

HASH(0x9f1c0abc) out of 5 stars Not worth the download March 6 2015
By Mark Jones - Published on Amazon.com

When I picked up this book I thought it might be a good introduction and overview of Greek gods, goddesses and heroes for middle school age children. However, the book has problems making it difficult to recommend.

A brief example of either poor editing or bad scholarship from early on in the book:

" What historians do know is that the extensive damage that had befallen the Mycenaean civilization took almost 300,000 years to repair. This is referred to as the Dark Ages of Ancient Greece."

This is the second time in the same section the author makes a statement about 300,000 years. It appears in the same paragraph were the author sets a date at the 10th century BCE.

I can forgive errors like this if the quality of the material covering the gods was well done. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Many gods get just one short paragraph that offers nothing to aid the reader in understanding the god.

There are no references or suggestions for further reading. Any book on a subject like this should mention at least a handful books to delve a little bit deeper.
HASH(0x9f1c0960) out of 5 stars but not great detail on the Gods and Goddesses March 18 2015

I wasn't too impressed. Not what I expected. The author tended to ramble. A lot of history of the period, but not great detail on the Gods and Goddesses.
