Griot's Garage constantly evaluates their products so they can offer the best tools to help you have fun in your garage. Their 1st generation random orbital brought safe and effective dual action machine polishing to a wide audience. Their 2nd generation orbital set the industry standard for performance with its powerful, 7-ampere, 850-Watt motor. Striving for perfection, they set out to improve upon this benchmark machine, taking into account thoughtful feedback from their customers. After rigorous testing, they are proud to introduce the 3rd generation Griot's Garage random orbital. This new orbital offers the same power as the previous version, but with a redesigned exterior to achieve a new level of comfort and ease of use. They kept the adjustable handle but added a rubberized grip to it. They added molded hand and finger grips to the housing, along with a domed, rubberized palm grip. The speed control dial and power switch were moved to more convenient locations. Polishing and waxing your paint with a random orbital has never been more easy, safe, and fun. With 6 speed settings, a 5⁄16 inches diameter offset, and low-end torque, this machine is ideal for polishing and waxing at any speed. The Griot's Garage random orbital is designed to provide you with a safe and easy way to achieve flawless results with minimal work. Powerful enough for a professional. Safe enough for a first-timer. Backed by Griot's Garage lifetime guarantee against defects. Choose from a 10 feet (18-AWG) or extra-long 25 feet (16-AWG) power cord option that makes working around the entire vehicle. Includes a 6 inches hook and loop backing plate. Foam pads not included.

Meet one of the best paint care tool you'll buy
Our 6" Random Orbital cashes in on three generations of refinement. From the inside out we've kept this dual-action machine on the leading edge of technology so it delivers a greater level of comfort, ease of use, and breathtaking results. The random orbit or dual action of the machine refers to how the pad spins as the backing plate simultaneously rotates in an elliptical orbit. These two actions save you tons of elbow grease and are the cornerstone of the tool's ability to safely perfect your paint. And also the main reason Richard is quick to point out that our machine buffers require no previous experience to operate. It's easy. You use lower speeds to introduce the product to the paint and higher speeds to work it into the surface and achieve the desired correcting (polishing) or perfecting (waxing) effect.
Engineered for comfort
A six-position adjustable handle features a rubberized grip. A rubberized palm grip and finger notch on the head of the orbital, plus molded finger grips on its body ensure complete, non-slip control.

This thing is powerful. I read that random orbital buffers vibrate alot but I never imagined it to be so much. I can only blame my own frail weak arms. Inititally felt pretty good on speed 4 removing a couple of scratches. By the end of polishing the entire car on Speed 3, my arms felt like they left my body. The vibration alone killed all feeling in them. Barely managed to seal the car on speed 1 the rest of the time. The result? totally worth it. My arms gained 200x muscle mass. Either that or they are inflamed and ready to be amputated. Way better than P90x. In all seriousness, car turned out great.. it has that shine I don't think I could have done manually by hand. You could tell me otherwise but I'd plug my ears. Too much time and money invested in this to think otherwise.
I was one of those who thought they could get this to save time on polishing and sealing/wax. It turns out to take about the same or more and the process feels more tiring. Although I could also say the same about rubbing the entire car by hand with a foam pad. I also blame inexperience for the slow process. It did save alot of time with corrections though.. like swirls and minor scratches. The bonus is using a power tool to buff a car definitely makes you feel like a man.. which is a big plus for me since I don't look much like one. It was also pretty fun to work the machine over the car. Definitely more enjoyable than rubbing by hand.
Overall, great product, great results, effort required still.
For very light scratches, Lake Country 6.5" orange pads (LAKE COUNTRY 6.5" ORANGE CCS MEDIUM CUT FOAM POLISHING & BUFFING PAD) with Meguiar's M105 Mirror Glaze Ultra-Cut Compound - 32 oz. is a good choice. Finish off with the white pads and M205.
Heat dissipation is excellent. Even after a full day of polishing, no part of the polisher's body is too hot to touch.
If you have never done paint correction before, read the manual. Watch as many YouTube videos as you can - Griot's themselves makes an excellent tutorial. Be prepared to spend the entire day. But your car will look oh so nice.
Best price for 25ft cord too on Amanzon. $160.00. Free shipping.
After about 6 monthes of regular use in a detail shop, the speed dial started to jump up and down between speed settings on occasion.
Great for learning or a weekend warrior.
Would recommend purchasing a DA Polisher with better counter balancing if you intend to use this professionally, vibration will get to you after a few hours.
