In these pages, you ll learn the most compelling arguments in favor of Christianity. Not only that, but you ll also find out how to respond to the most popular objections to those arguments. You ll discover that "On Guard" is solidly factual, winsomely personal, consistently practical, and ultimately convincing in its presentation of the case for Christianity. --Lee Strobel (03/01/2010)"

There is probably no greater defender of the Christian faith alive today than William Lane Craig. "On Guard" is Craig s introduction to the wealth of information, logic, and evidence that powerfully point to the truth of our Christian beliefs. Read it to deepen your own faith and to embolden your confidence in sharing that faith with others. --Mark Mittelberg (03/01/2010)"

"On Guard" is an excellent summation of how the Christian faith makes sense of the real world in which we all live. Speaking the truth in love, once again William Lane Craig proves we don t have to be abrasive to be persuasive. --Jim Thomas (03/01/2010)"

William Lane Craig is arguably one of the finest Christian philosophers of our time. His knowledge and skill have placed him on platforms on every continent, engaging the most notable skeptics in dialogue and debate. --Ravi Zacharias (03/01/2010)"

It is hard to overstate the impact that William Lane Craig has had for the cause of Christ. He is simply the finest Christian apologist of the last half century, and his academic work justifies ranking him among the top 1 percent of practicing philosophers in the Western world. Besides that, he is a winsome ambassador for Christ, an exceptional debater, and a man with the heart of an evangelist. I know him well and can say that he lives a life of integrity and lives out what he believes. I do not know of a single thinker who has done more to raise the bar of Christian scholarship in our generation than Craig. He is one of a kind and I thank God for his life and work. --J. P. Moreland (03/01/2010)"

This is a great introductory book to learn about Christian apologetics. If you want to introduce yourself or someone you know to the common arguments in support of the Christian faith, then this is the book I would recommend.

If you enjoy this book and want to learn more, there are two paths I would recommend as good options. To learn more about apologetic arguments, objections, and the like, continue to Reasonable Faith, also by William Lane Craig. To learn more about how Christian theology and teachings make sense within the context of daily life, try reading Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

In this introductory book, Craig thoughtfully and purposefully sets out to enable all people to access and understand the basics of Christian apologetics. In his style, he is able to bring the arguments he makes down to a level able to be read and understood by a large portion of lay-readers and thinkers.

Craig has a way of making his arguments understandable, memorable, and reasonable, and has a consistent structure making each chapter easy to refer back to.

If you're looking for a great introductory level book on apologetics, this is the place to start.

On Guard by William Lane Craig is a must-read for every Christian. Lane takes a systematic approach to equip the believer to defend belief in God by practical and logical points that are hard to reject. Most Christians when challenged, having run out of answers default to "you just have to have faith" - which is nice if you're a Christian, but with non-believers it doesn't hold any water.

The reader will learn to defend belief in God using logic, reason, philosophical and scientific information that makes a very strong case for the existence of God while at the same time, learning the logical rejections of each point given and taken back to the main point of the argument. This should be taught to every new and old believer...which will give strong confidence to share your faith.

Apologetics will never save anyone nor lead them to the sinner's prayer...that's not the point and Lane states it. What it does is open the door to contemplate that Christians are not irrational, going on blind faith, but with strong evidence that the existence of God is a very probable and viable alternative to what society has been led to believe.

Warning: This book is not meant to be "surface skimmed" = it must be read, then re-read to understand fully the concepts being presented...but it is so rewarding and worth all the time you can invest in reading and preparing yourself to "give an account for the hope that is in you."

A very good presentation of a number of good arguments for the Christian faith. Here's a list of what each chapter deals with: 1-The reason for apologetics: to shape culture, strengthen believers, and as part of the process to win unbelievers to Christ . 2- Life without God would be objectively meaningless, valueless, and purposeless, and therefore would be absurd. 3- Why does anything exist at all, everything has an explanation for its existence and that explanation is God. 4- The cosmological argument, everything that begins to exist has a cause. 5- The teleological argument, the structure of the universe points to a designer. 6-The moral argument, the existence of objective morals points to God as its foundation. 7- Countering the argument from suffering, answering those who argue against God based on the existence of suffering in the world. 8- The historical person of Jesus, who he was and what he claimed for himself. 9- The historical facts surrounding the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 10- Is Jesus the only way to God, answering relativism.
