As others have mentioned, it takes a bit of work to get it working. Make sure that you get the XBOX 360 Accessories software for your version of Windows from Microsoft first. (There is a version of it on the included CD, but it's not compatible with all versions of Windows - I have Win7 X64.) Run and install the software you downloaded from MS. Then follow the instructions that others have posted here. The only difference for me is that the device was not at the end of the list, but somewhere in the middle under 'Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class'. Once I found that, I was good to go. Once the driver is installed, don't forget to hit the 'connect' or 'sync' buttons on the receiver and on the wireless controller.

I've used my wireless setup on Steam just now and it works well. I can play from my couch which is about 4 meters from the TV without issues. I withheld one star because the instructions should be a lot clearer. I should not have to depend on other Amazon comments in order to set it up.

This reciever is by no means official and the build quality and software shows.
The package arrived as a mess with this completely useless mini cd in the bag.
Threw that thing in the garbage right away, hopped online and found some drivers
because Windows for whatever reason could not detect it.

I tried multiple USB ports and even tried a restart with the reciever plugged in.
Eventually, after I hand installed the drivers, like its 1998.
The receiver connected fine to my Wireless xbox controller... however, half the time Steam Big Picture wouldnt
recognize the Xbox Home button.
Thus I had no access to the Steam Overlay. After some serious digging I found another set of unofficial drivers and they allowed me to designate the Home Button but now the joysticks wouldnt work in the overlay...

You would think this is a Steam Big Picture issue and you wouldve been right... but the proof came after I ordered an official Microsoft Wireless reciever.
After I received the Official reciever in the mail, I removed all traces of the HDE Receivers drivers. Plugged in the
official reciever and VOILA! Instant plug and play setup and everything worked as expected... I thought this was super weird.

So! again I uninstalled every trace of xbox controller driver and decided to plug in the HDE reciever and nothing... no plug and play
driver setup was the exact same and Steam Big Picture worked like before... well, didnt work like before...

Anyway! This controller will work for any game that supports Xinput and it's cheap and has a decent range. Personally, it just
really bugged me that after spending a little more cash and procuring a legit reciever all of my problems dissappeared instantly.

So, you get what you pay for!

Product came in a reasonable time and has been working fantastically. Got it working pretty quickly, though it seems a lot of people have been having trouble getting it to work. The instructions they provided work great for me (even though I didn't install the disc they provided).

Here is what I did to get it to work (taken from instructions provided).
1. Go to device manager in windows
2. Go to unidentified devices or undefined or anything with "un" in it.
3. Right click and hit update
4. Choose the "Browse my computer for driver software"
5. Choose "Let me pick from a list of drivers in my computer"
6. Then you choose "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349"
7. Then hit update.
This should make it work!

You may need to install the drivers for wireless xbox controllers from microsofts website, but those are fairly easy to find. I am on windows 8.1 64 bit and I believe windows 7 64 bit drivers are working for me.

Hope this helps in making your product work as well as well as mine is!
