She has studied parapsychology at the renowned Rhine Research Center. There is a real art to planning a party, something that Terrance clearly knows her way around. She not only includes a game plan, she includes links for free printable invitations and a calculator to help you determine just how many drinks you need to allow for.
The book is divided into several sections, which you can access from the interactive menu in the front of the book.
Section I. Party Planning
Section II - Party Recipes, further divided into Desserts, Light Appetizers, Heavy Appetizers and Drinks
Section III - Decorating Ideas
Section IV - Fun Activities for both children and Teens/Adults
Section V - Halloween History & Trivia
All of the included recipes are easy to do. About half rely on basics like refrigerated cookie dough & cake mixes. You'll find goodies like Swamp Cake, Candy Corn Pizza, Pumpkin Whoopie Pies and a Pumpkin Fudge that is super-yummy! (You can use the leftover pumpkin from the Pumpkin Fudge to make Pumpkin Pillows - little caramel & pumpkin stuffed fried turnovers made from wonton wrappers.) Monster Meatballs has been one of Grandma's favorite party dishes for several decades. Terrance calls for frozen meatballs (she doesn't say how big a package) but do feel free to make your own according to your favorite recipe. Sixteen ounce jars of jelly and chili/barbecue sauce are enough for about 5 pounds of meatballs.
Chock full of decorating ideas, you'll even find links to plans to make your own coffin to use as a buffet table along with imaginative ideas for the exterior of your home and instructions for producing a Boiling Cauldron to set the atmosphere.
No party is complete without fun & games to keep party-goes entertained. You'll find ideas ranging from Make Your Own Luminarias to Monster Musical Chairs along with several Zombie Games for the youngest party goers. I do have one quibble with the game Monster Station. Terrance calls for raw chicken thigh or wing bones as "fingers" for the game. Raw chicken can carry salmonella and should not be handled by children. Better you should salvage the bones from chicken that you've cooked and scrub them to remove and traces of meat.
Grandma's $0.02 - Happy Halloween!: Hundreds of Perfect Party Recipes, Delightful Decorating Ideas & Awesome Activities is a super idea book that you'll enjoy using year after year. Halloween enthusiasts will find lots to love!
