Akbar Tamboli PE, FASCE (New York City) is senior vice president and principal at Thornton-Tomasetti structural engineers, one of the foremost structural engineering firms. He was formerly vice president and project manager with Cantor Seinuk consulting engineers in New York, where he was responsible for several major projects. A fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers and Professional Engineer, Tamboli is the editor of Steel Design Handbook; LRFD Method and Handbook of Steel Connection Design and Details First and Second Editions.

Format: Hardcover

I'm very interested in structural engineering and the SE exam. I bought this book to help me with that. However, I found this book, besides being boring - one fraction of an inch after another - , to be poorly written. The worked problems are hard to follow although there are many of them to the authors credit. I suppose the details drafted are of professional quality, but there not that many of them. There are an infinite variety of connections in the real world. You can't sit down and read this book as you would a Jack McCormac book. But afterall its a handbook. Most handbooks are not verry good anyways I 've found. I'd try someone else. But I do like the cover!

Steel Connection Book by Tamboli explains connection design clearly.
Each chapter is written by today`s leading experts in steel design field.
Book gives examples and procedures for major connections including
hard to find information on composite members and space truss connections
and several other unique topics.
It is best book available on steel connections.
