"That is so funny! I just discovered your blog today and have been paging through the posts. I stopped on this one and read the whole thing… I don’t think that could have been scripted any funnier. Thanks for sharing – I shall return" -David

TWO PLANE TICKETS, NO PLAN, ONE DREAM

Happier Than A Billionaire shares one couple's celebration of risking it all for the dream of living a happier life.

In this humorous and witty account, Nadine Pisani shares what it is like to follow her dream of quitting her job and starting a new life under the sunny skies of Costa Rica. Along the way, she finds reliable utilities are not that reliable, quirky neighbors are unavoidable, and tackling red tape takes the strength of a linebacker.

But with all its challenges, you'll learn why Costa Rica is ranked as one of the happiest places on earth. If you've ever considered risking it all to start over in a tropical place—or just enjoy a little armchair travel—this is the book for you.

What should be mandatory reading for anyone thinking of moving to, or travelling Central America, Happier than a Billionaire is gut-wrenchingly laugh out loud funny, best read with a nice glass of wine in a lawn chair. Frankly, one of the best travel type books I have ever read, and once you start very difficult to put down. Definitely worth the read!

It is with an open heart and also an open mind that I decided to purchase this book. My husband and I have been reading a lot on Costa Rica since we would like to make a move over there in the near future. I have laugh so much reading this book! Nadine has a way to put things in perspective and dedramatize each situations she and her husband are encountering. This book is written by someone with a huge sense of humour and who is not afraid to laugh about herself.

Thank you Nadine for this very special book...you made me realize that me, the little canadian girl can also aspire to live the life of a billionnaire!

...now off to read the sequel!

Thinking about making the move to the CR in a few years, we scoured Amazon for anything to do with Costa Rica and this was one of the first entries. Nadine writes a delightful book about their experience making the move down and letting go of the banana back in the states. It's a combination of information and personal stories about this new adventure. She and her husband seem to roll with the changes and through her stories give you a glimpse into the crazy way of living down there. How it's incredibly beautiful but also how it's beyond unorganized and frustrating getting, well anything done is!

It's almost like following in a virtual way, someone who is making the journey we are planning on. If your expecting a manual on every detail and where to do this or that, this isn't what this book is about. It does offer some insight but through their wonderful stories and adventures. It certainly gave us some more food for thought and by the time the last page came to be, I was anxious to read her second book to see how the adventure continues!

I traveled to Costa Rica for the first time last year and fell in love. This started my personal journey to devour all the information I could get on retiring early and moving there. When I came across Happier than a Billionaire, I rushed out to get the book and started reading. I was immediately hooked on the adventures of Rob and Nadine! This book is written from a real-life perspective...nothing sugar coated here. Well, it is sugar coating with hilarious, side-splitting humour that is delivered in a way that has me laughing out load on the subway and at my desk when I was sneaking in a chapter or two.

It's the story of a couple who decide to leave their security and family and move lock, stock and barrel to Costa Rica. Their plan is to build a house over looking the ocean but as the story unfolds, it becomes more about their transition and the joys and pitfalls along the way. What intrigued me most was the honesty with which Nadine writes. Many times I truly felt what she was feeling as I have been fortunate to have lived in Trinidad and Barbados so I could relate to all the quirks and challenges. Nadine has a way of eventually seeing the silver lining in every situation; with the help of her super-supportive, easy-going hubby.

I have just finished "The Sequel" and cannot wait for the next book! I look forward to accompanying them on their life path and wish them nothing but success. I have no doubt they will be successful as it is clear that with every challenge, the expression "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" comes to mind. The spiritual journey that Nadine goes through is uplifting and inspirational. Keep it up guys...the world is your oyster (pun intended).

After my first visit to Costa Rica, I had my mind set - I want to move there! I never felt this way even though I had travelled to more than 15 countries in my life. The front page of this book caught my eyes and I decided to give it a try. This book not only gives me strength and inspiration knowing that there are real people who had done it, her experience also brings back a lot of memories I had when I was in Costa Rica. It gives me hope that one day I can do this too.

I love her writing style, especially how she sticks in some personal experience related to the situation. It makes me feel like I'm there with them.

Mind you this is not an ordinary travel book. It does not tell you which hotel has the most beautiful view and which restaurant has the best Tico food. But it tells you the good the bad and the ugly of Costa Rica and you will learn how to make the best out of everything and stay positive and happy no matter what the situation brings you. I can't wait for the new book to come out.

All the best to you, Nadine and Rob. Hope to see you there one day. Pura Vida.

Both myself and my husband Tim absolutely loved this book! It was interesting, funny and we both had to start the sequel immediately after finishing the first book. Nadine writes in a manner that invites the reader right into her life and home and somehow when we finished the book we felt like we knew them personally. We loved the way Nadine puts humour in telling all her stories of the trials and tribulations of adapting to a completely foreign culture. Nadine and her husband Rob took a huge jump of faith in search of a happier more wholesome lifestyle and congratulations to them for finding that life and especially for sharing it with us, the readers. After reading this book Tim and I have decided that a Costa Rican vacation is definitely on our bucket list, not to an all inclusive like the first time I was there many years ago, but to rent a jeep, drive around the country and explore the beauty and culture that it has to offer. Bravo Nadine, well done.
