Before getting married Snow White and her prince are going to invite the 7 Dwarfs to their wedding. During this time the evil queen's brother pops in for a visit to find out his sister has been killed. He finds out that Snow White is connected so goes out to get revenge for his sister. When Lord Maliss first goes in to capture her the prince and snow white are separated. The movie is basically Snow White going on a journey to save the prince. This movie promotes a FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER SAVING THE PRINCE. Off the top of your head how many female main characters save their princes in movies like this especially in the 90's. The main villain 'Lord Maliss' does not kidnap her because he wishes to take her for himself. There is an actual revenge motive here.
In some scenes the animation doesn't really seem consistent and there are animations used over and over in the final scene but guess what? Disney does the exact same thing. Google it I'm not kidding. Also it's a kid is it honestly going to matter what the animation looks like to them?
Some scenes may be a bit much for younger kids. One of the character's 'Scowl' is seen smoking and constantly coughing as a result of it. Some of the poses in his song 'He's bad' shows him in certain poses that may be scary or unfit for kids so maybe stick to an older audience. One of the overall messages in the end of this movie and is brought up by his lackey 'Batso' frequently is that smoking is bad and will kill you. Overall if you let your kids watch the Disney version of Snow White this should be perfectly fine for them to watch. Let's not forget the Disney version specifically states that Snow White's heart must be brought to the Evil Queen that in itself for a kids movie is pushing it.
The songs in the movie have a feel of the 80's or 90's and are filled with optimism. Off the top of my head I can only remember 2 songs which is 'Mother Nature has so many things to do' and Thunderella's song. Thunderella's song is about staying strong and to keep trying and other one is a filler and serves no purpose.
Would have given it 5/5 stars except obviously the price is absolutely ridiculous, the movie is good but not worth 150.00. So I would strongly advise to check other sources such as youtube or even one of your local DVD shops.
Like I said (a million times), I was shocked and surprised by the negative reviews I would see on the web, I thought it's a great sequel to the Snow White story by The Brothers Grimm, only instead of Seven Dwarfs there are Seven Dwarfelles in the film. I love the ending theme performed by Irene Cara, who also played the voice of Snow White in the film.
Along with a atrocious plot, the characters are equally as bad (think...a surly owl, a pathetic bat, and Thunderella). If you like the characters, then you'll love the songs. Thunderella sings her "I need to shine like the sun" or whatever it was called song. It was Absolutely HORRABLE!!!
Please... If you want to be spared from a lifetime of horror,Don't, I repeat, Don't watch this movie!! If i could rate it lower, I would.
