I am only three chapters in, but am enjoying it all. Studies, anecdotes, humour, and personal experience flow seamlessly together. A lot of the suggestions are not new information, but helpful reminders when put in the context of overall happiness- makes me realize how much an organized closet does impact my mood. It's time to get cleaning!

As part of my summer "self improvement" reading I picked up The Happiness Project and found a kindred spirit, while at the same time a much more administrative person. I very much enjoyed benefiting from the research and application of the author in the area of happiness and would recommend this book.

The best thing to say about this book is that I believe that the author was honest and forthright, showing her flaws as well as her accomplishments. However, her copious notes, tracking and monitoring are reminiscent more of a behavioural study than something that the average person would embrace -- and that's coming from a person who has done research all her life! In addition, I was constantly aware of the fact that she was doing all of that IN ORDER to have material for a book. It didn't "sit we" with me.

This book is not for everyone, but if you are receptive to suggestions then it should actually help you be happier. I've read a lot of books on happiness, but none had strategies like this author! This author clearly states that this is her own journey, and if you are willing to make a blueprint for yours (using her work as a short-cut), then this is a book for you. What is most helpful for me is being accountable daily to my own truths/philosophies. There are a lot of little gems in this book; I bought several copies for friends!

This book is for anyone who feels as though they would like to be happier. Gretchen Rubin does an amazing job of synthesizing a wide variety of happiness information and making it humourous and very user-friendly.

I loved the Happiness project! Simple actionable resolutions each month for a year to improve your overall well being and happiness. I can't wait to read Happier at Home by the same author. It's a must-read if you feel like you could be even happier, no need to feel down or depressed to enjoy the Happiness project

I thought this book was great. It is very down to earth, not new age-y or hard to relate to at all. Quite simply, the author wants to be happier without completely turning her life upside down, and she shares how she went about accomplishing that. I think anyone can get a lot of value out of this book.

Gretchen Rubin's journey was full of slip ups and mishaps as she strives to become a better person. She chooses topics that affect us all - being more open, more friendly, less gossipy, less naggy. Wanting fewer gold stars. I saw a reflection of myself in her book. Best of all I like her core advice 'be Gretchen'...be yourself and all else will follow.
