Product Description

Product Description

Nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, the beautiful town of Paradise is the perfect place to raise a family, have dinner at the local diner...and chase a ruthless killer.

Jacob Stone is an undercover DEA Agent dead-set on getting vengeance for his sister’s death. When his sources tell him that the drug dealer he’s been searching for will soon be setting up a distribution center in the seemingly innocent town of Paradise, he moves in for the kill.

What Jake wasn’t counting on, however, was falling in love with gorgeous Harmony McKinnon – the ex-wife of the man he was determined to eliminate.

Harmony McKinnon never believed she’d find love again....not after the horrors she lived through with her ex-husband. When she meets secretive Jacob Stone and soon falls in love, she never expected that her life would be in danger again...or that the man she’d come to trust would betray her.

Can Jake make Harmony understand his motives? Can Harmony trust him in spite of the past? Will they have their happily ever after?

Not everything is as it seems in the sleepy, little town of Paradise, Tennessee!

Hard as Stone is the second book in the Passion in Paradise: The Men of the McKinnon Sisters Series, but is a stand-alone novel (165,000 words) that can be easily read without reading the first book. Contains explicit EROTICA sections; for mature audiences only.

REVIEW: "Drop what you are doing and read this book!!!!.... I can't recommend this book enough, this series enough, these authors enough. Get one clicking so you can meet Jake and fall in love!!" --- Beatriz Perez, Cover to Cover Book Blog

About the Author

Sarah O'Rourke is the alter ego of two best friends who bonded over their passion for romantic fiction and erotica. Born and raised in the southern United States, one lives near Louisville, Kentucky, while the other resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Formerly an accountant and a chemist, they are now overworked, stay-at-home moms who adore their children, their husbands...and writing about love in every way possible. Currently focusing on their Passion in Paradise series, they love to write wildly intense romantica stories that have multiple characters, but each book focuses on one specific couple that will ALWAYS have a happy ending…eventually! The Passion in Paradise series follows the lives of four sisters, who love and infuriate each other – and the men who love them! Each book is a stand-alone and does NOT require the reader to have read the prior books.

Holy crap!! Hard as Stone is one hot read! This is one of those books I went into expecting more suspense than romance but man was I pleasantly surprised. Sarah O’Rourke has masterfully written a great thrill ride with action, drama and really, really hot sex. I love the all the characters in this book, the sister are priceless and lil miss.Heaven had me in stiches. Let’s just say you will never hear “the farm and the del” again without cracking up. This book will have you from the word go. Sarah was able to give you every bit of information you could possibly want without making you roll your eyes hoping that it would just be over with. The way she was able to put every detail in without boring me to tears was amazing. This is defiantly one of my top 10 favorite reads so far this year. So without further ado let me introduce you to Jacob Stone and Harmony (along with her crazy ass sisters that this story would not be the same

Jacob Stone…my oh my he is my definition of an alpha male that will have you drooling all over this book. He is ex-military and now an undercover DEA agent. He pursued the DEA job to seek vengeance for the death of his sister. The DEA world has nicknamed him the widow maker and he is known to take a life without blinking an eye, when he gets a tip that the man he has been looking for is planning on starting up a new drug base in the small town of Paradise he goes there on “vacation” to do his own investigating. What he doesn’t expect is that the family of women who he has been told has ties to one of the key players in the drug ring will turn his life upside down in the best possible way.

This is book two of an incredible series that I am so glad I found. This could be a stand alone story but each character brings something different to the overall story of a family of strong women who have had life try to knock them down but each one has risen to take back what they loss and the men who stand by them not to fight their battles but support them. So nice to read about strong confident women who overcome so much and still allow themselves to love. Looking forward to where this series leads.

HASH(0xa5befac8) out of 5 stars Even better than the first!! June 2 2014

This was a great follow-up to Cain's Salvation, book one in the Passion in Paradise series surrounding the McKinnon sisters. In the first book we met the family and learned about Cain and Faith's rocky relationship. In the second book we move on to Harmony and Heaven as our main characters while learning more and more about the other two McKinnon's - Patience and Honor. The story keeps you hooked. Harmony and Patience are extra sassy and full of surprises. We meet a new hero and villain as well... what story world be any good without all those ;) The men continue to make their mistakes, some that could lead to disaster. And now a bit about the story...

Harmony is a single mom and happy, or so she thought. When Jacob Stone rolled into town get world is turned upside down. Her track record with men is awful and she tries really hard to ignore Jake. Stone is a Harley riding mystery with long hair and tattoos, but the would be bad boy had fallen for Harmony and Heaven, her four year old daughter. What Harmony doesn't know is Jake is DEA and he is there to decide if she is part of the next big drug play or if she is at risk. Before he is even in town a few minutes he knows she is innocent and he MUST protect her and her whole family, but will she forgive him when she finds out? How can he protect her if she pushes him away? Zeke, the local sheriff, figures out what he is up to and while all the men in the McKinnon's life are in the loop the women are left hanging out in the wind. It isn't until Tanner shows up threatening Harmony and all she holds dear that the story breaks free.

The ending was a surprise to me as well, I love when books aren't predictable :). Can't wait for the next one to see the torture Patience puts Abel through...

Favorite passages:
- Either way, it wasn't Zeke's fault that Jacob felt like a whore attending a cotillion when he stood beside the other man.
- "When a man gets lucky enough to take a pretty woman like you out for the evening, then he damn well should show up with flowers, Harmony. If he doesn't, you kick his ass to the curb."
- "Christ, will you calm d- own? I can only handle one hysterical woman at a time," Jacob whispered violently into the phone. [talking to Zeke]
- "Either way, neither of those so-called faults is gonna keep me from claimin' you." "I'm not undiscovered territory, Jacob," Harmony retorted sharply. "I'm a woman. And I'm not looking to be claimed. Not by you or anybody else. Go take you flag and plant it someplace else."
- Sweet Lord, the man was part-octopus.
- "For once, can't you cut me a break and stay where I put you?" Honor raised an eyebrow at the angry man. "I'm sorry. You must have mistaken me for a German Shepard."
- "In that case, Zeke was right. That was a foolish thing to do." Honor frowned at her sister. "And if you tell him I said that, I'll burn your pancakes for a month."
- She was flourishing under his attention, shedding her inhibitions, spreading her wings, and flying higher than she'd ever imagined possible.
- "I can't promise clear skies, darlin'," Jacob admitted quietly. "But I can damn sure be there with the umbrella when that rain falls."
- A sperm donor didn't make a man a daddy, and that bastard wasn't getting anywhere near this precious girl again.

Love Jake, love Harmony, love Heaven and all of the secondary characters and dynamics amongst them. I loved this book so much, I didn't even mind that it was written in 3rd person narrative, which I usually HATE! I'm not one to leave long synopsis type reviews, they always give away some of the story and leave you with preconceived notions before you start the book, so I will just say the story was excellent, the romance sweet and steamy, it's just an all around great book!

HASH(0xa5befeac) out of 5 stars Fantastic book June 1 2014

After reading the first book in this stand alone series Cain's Salvation I was literally chomping at the bit to get my hands on the next instalment from the town of Paradise. The McKinnon sisters are my ultimate set of heroines, each girl has a past and issues and are so full of humour and love that from reading about them you feel like a part of the family.
Hard as Stone is Harmony's turn to find love. Enter our ruggedly handsome older DEA agent Jacob Stone who has a bit of a hidden agenda when he first encounters our protagonist Harmony but after sending a bit of time with her and her gorgeous piece of Heaven (wink wink) Jacob discovers that there's maybe more to life than revenge and solitude.

I won't go into too much detail about the storyline because it's one that once you start you'll be completely sucked in and maybe, possibly forget you have a house to clean, children to raise and a husband to cater to. But it is sooo worth it. So much happens I probably couldn't tell you all of it anyway.

The writing is fabulous, it flows so easily as scene after scene packs a punch filled with everything- comedy, tragedy, romance and of course those very hot and naughty scenes with our main couple. I'm beyond excited for this series to continue. The characters are brilliant and pop right off the page and into your heart. The writing is engaging and the dialogue is superb. The two wonderful writers that make up Sarah O'Rourke are golden, they manage to convey each individual person's unique personality through their words. Total five star from me.

I enjoyed this book 100 times more than the first one and I gave that one 4 stars. This group of characters are so lovable, they had me laughing and crying the whole way through.

My only complaint with the authors writing is that the sex scenes don't necessarily match up to the rest of the story. The storyline is contemporary and the sex scenes are almost erotic. I mean nearly all the characters at some stage refer to God in their lives, but get them in the bedroom and they sound like a porn movie. I am a fan of a good smutty book, but it just seems inconsistent and a bit OTT.

This was a great addition to the series and I will definitely be reading more from this author.
