Product Description

Charlotte Kenny is nineteen years old and a prostitute.
Not by choice, though.
When a client is murdered, Charlotte is thrown into a world she believes should be between the pages of a novel.

Beau Mercier is an ass with a dark past.
When Charlotte ends up on his doorstep, he knows trouble will follow.

Two people, who neither trust nor like each other, are forced together in a town where all is not as it seems.
Can Charlotte escape her trouble? Can Beau open up enough to help her?
Both want to, but secret pasts, murder, and intrigue, get in the way.

Harlot accompanies the thrillers, Gabriel and A Deadly Sin, and can be read as a standalone.
For readers over the age of 18.

Another stunningly amazing book from Tracie Podger, who is fast becoming an expert in the thriller/action packed genre. Her writing as always is impeccable and she has the talent to captivate and hold your attention trough every single page. As soon as you open the book, the action, the angst the excitement starts straight away making your heart rate accelerate because you know from Tracie previous works that you are about to be taken on a ride you'll not easily forget.

Charlotte is the lead in this book and immediately I felt drawn to her because of the terrible situation she has found herself in. Bought up by her grandmother who has recently passed away, her guardianship goes to a cousin whom she has never met and who is basically an evil SOB and treats Charlotte in the worse possible way he can, she is sold and abused to every man who will have her; basically becoming a prostitute - his "Harlot" as he calls her.
When one of her clients is murdered while in her presence she panics and runs thinking she would be the obvious one to get the blame.
While running for her life she meets the mysterious Beau and he gives her a lift to the nearest town where lots of secrets and revelation are unraveled over time.

I loved reading the character of Charlotte, no matter what was thrown at this poor girl she stood strong and resilient time after time and I really admired her for that.
Beau was a little harder to get to know, he is a very distant character and closed off emotionally but you are allowed glimpses of the man he once was and the man you hope he will become again one day.

This story will keep you on your toes and will take you on a ride with more twist and turns that you could ever imagine.

Favorite Quotes:

He was my commander, when I was in the regular army. Then he was my commander when I joined the irregular army.

One stare from him, Charlotte, and any child would fall immediately into submission. He was evil, and that evilness rolled off him like a gas, contaminating everything and everyone around.

My Review:

“Charlotte the Harlot” was how her cousin/guardian would taunt her. Some guardian! Coming from the title and synopsis – this exceptionally well-written and cunningly crafted book was not at all what I expected. Although sex crimes are mentioned, there were no actual sex scenes within the pages. And while some may find that completely incongruous for a book titled Harlot, let me assure you that sex was not needed to sell this gripping read.

The plot was rife with mind prickling suspense and curiosity tickling intrigue. The characters were compellingly detailed yet cryptically tight-lipped and holding secrets from each other. I was unsure whom to trust throughout much of the book as they were each artfully skilled in evasion, and no one was who they seemed. I feared Charlotte was either being manipulated, set-up, or used as bait, although I was also a bit frustrated by her forked tongue as well.

The writing was keenly observant, gut twisting, and emotionally intense on every level. I was quickly ensnared by the talented Ms. Podger’s word voodoo and immediately fell into Charlotte’s narrative from page one. Written in an insightful and sharply detailed first person POV, the storyline was eventful, well-paced, and enthralling. Ms. Podger’s writing was riveting, first-rate, and likely to lead to sleep deprivation. In conclusion, Tracie Podger is a remarkably gifted evil genius. I am in awe of her mad skills, and maybe a little bit afraid of her now as well.

I love this, along with every other book I have read by this author. I was glued to this right to the end. I also love how it is intertwined with Gabriel and Deadly Sin. They all can be read as standalones but they are connected.
Charlotte is amazing, she is one strong girl considering what life she has been subjected to. Since the death of her grandmother, Charlotte was left in the care of her cousin and that is when her life changed.
Her cousin used to pimp her out to feed his habits. My heart ached for her so much. She finally managed to run away which I was delighted, but I was so nervous that her cousin would find her with her only making it to the next town. She is given a ride there by a stranger ( Beau) . This is when things start to unfold, and unfold it does!! I was on the edge of my seat at few times that's for sure.
I am not going to say any more as I don't want to spoil it.
I do love Tracie Podger, she has become one of my favourite authors. You must one click this great book if you haven't already!!
