I LOVE this box set. The extras like the map and Locket and books are perfect. The box is so beautiful and the discs are packaged in nice boxes too. But after reading reviews about scratched discs I looked closer at mine and sure enough I have scratches on almost all of my discs!. I even found a big FINGERPRINT. Come on WB, that is so unacceptable! When You put a pricetag on something of 300+ dollars you expect a flawless product. There is also the issue with the First disc not having the extended cut. A reviewer before me wrote an email address to contact for the proper disc. I have an email in so we will see what happens. My first attempt at contacting WB was met with horrible customer service and did not andswer any of my questions. Amazon.ca was AMAZING as usual and compensated for the scratched discs right away.

If it werent for the scratched discs and the missing content on the first disc I would have given this 5 stars.

I bought this collection, expecting it to be just a boxed set with DVDs with extras. Instead, it is a huge (10 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 13") chest, with drawers and compartments, including a secret compartment with a hidden bonus DVD. This is a limited numbered collection, with the numbered certificate, and a small scroll like paper with the digital download registration numbers, a horcrux, art prints of the scenes, sketches of some buildings, a fabric, hangable map or Hogwart's school and grounds, and many more collectibles. Each year includes a DVD, Blu-ray, and 2 more discs of extras. And the last 2 movies include the 3-D version of the movie.
(Hint: the hidden bonus disc can be located by fully spreading the drawers to each side, and reaching in the space to feel for a fabric tag to pull it out. I hunted high and low for it and found it by accident when I wasn't even looking for it.)

Stunning set of discs fitting of the most famous wizard around

I contacted Warner Brothers through their US site (the Canadian one is fairly useless) here: [...]
After a while (about two weeks), I guess it eventually filtered its way to Canadian HQ in Toronto where someone eventually got back to me. From there, it was a quick email back and forth to get an address for where they could send the correct disc.

Easy enough, but a step that shouldn't have been necessary in the first place. But at least my HP Wizards Collection is now complete!

When it comes down to the look, finish and build quality, it all boils down to: they aren't kidding around. Stunning and extremely hefty, WB has managed to put together the definitive Harry Potter collection (*one caveat, below). The box itself is a tribute to the mystery and magical aura of Hogwarts.

Each "Year" (film) is stored in its own custom booklet with awesome attention to detail. And the extras (digital copy, horcrux locket, maps, blueprints, books) are appreciated - although there was the potential for even more to be done.

The regular price is very steep, but if you can catch the right sale, it's definitely worth a bit of a splurge.

* The caveat is that even after so much time has gone by, and after so many sets and customer complaints (even here on Amazon.ca), WB still has not yet corrected the problem identified by other customers: Disc 1 of The Philosopher's Stone is supposed to be the Extended Edition + Theatrical Release + Bonus material. However, like those other people, I received only the Theatrical + bonus (and a poorly designed menu to boot). This is rather disappointing and enough to knock a star off the rating. I'm waiting for WB to respond to my query about having this situation rectified.

Great packaging. If you already have the movies, it is still great to have a complete package if you are a Harry Potter fan. Kids who love to read will appreciate the contents and reading material. We don't have the movie collection so this makes it a little special for us for having to wait so long. My kids read the whole bookset prior to receiving this collection and it truly put perspective to the imagery and sound. Of course the books are still better but it is nice to visualize the art that it was.

I had been so excited to say the least for months ahead of time and as the date rolled closer I got more nervous I would be disappointed. I read a lot of negative reviews and I must say, I would really like to know what those people were expecting because what I got was a WONDERFUL box set, in a sturdy box with lots to look at and to truly immerse yourself into the world of Harry Potter. One of my favourite parts of it is the artifact catalog. It allows you to get a closer look at some of the items in Harry Potter. The movies come in great little booklets that tell you exactly what's on the disc and includes a great 8 part documentary called Creating The World Of Harry Potter. Although the price may seem a little high, you really got to think about what your getting. The discs alone would cost a lot... 8 blu ray movies, 2 3D blu rays, that already makes the price over 200$. Not to mention the bonus features, the great objects it comes with like a horcrux, a fabric map, a blue print of the castle, sketches and MORE!!! So you're actually really getting a great deal. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I feel this box set is a great set to own for years to come! It's a great buy! And I just had to come and write a great review because I couldn't stand it's rating being so low by people outraged at the price or think it's just not worth it. A true Potter fan would greatly appreciate it for YEARS to come.

The doorbell rings, and amazon's courier gives you a carton the size of a mini-fridge. You take out yard after yard of scrunched up paper, lift out your box and wonder whether your shelves are strong enough to hold it. You open it, you remove the protective polystyrene and tissue paper and there, at last, immaculate in its claret faux-leather glory, is your very own Wizard's Collection.

It opens on its metal hinges with reassuringly luxurious smoothness. Clearly its heavy-duty cardboard is sturdy enough to last a lifetime. Crafted by the movies' graphic artists, its interior glows with Hogwarts's house colours. Pull the drawers' metal handles, and nestling in black velvet-textured surrounds are eight book-like disc albums, each designed to match its particular movie. We get ten movie Blu-rays, including 3D discs for VII and VIII, eight movie DVDs, nine special features Blu-rays and special feature DVDs for movies I to IV.

And then, tucked away in their various drawers and compartments, there are the collectables. A Horcrux locket; a 48-page hardback Catalogue of Artefacts; a Label Collection book; a blueprint of Hogwarts castle; a 24" x 36" map of Hogwarts and its surrounding areas; a scroll with your UltraViolet redemption code; a beautiful numbered Certificate of Authenticity; five 7" x 5" sketch prints; and eight full colour concept paintings that just cry out to be framed for your living room wall. In effect, you have enough Potter goodies here to furnish your own little Potter art gallery.

Negatives? While the Blu-rays of movies I and II include extended director's cuts as well as the theatrical editions, the other Blu-rays don't - which may disappoint you, until you learn that extended director's cuts of movies III to VIII simply don't exist. And it's a little trickier extracting the discs from their albums than a clumsy person like me would like. Other than that, I can think of nothing to criticize.

Two footnotes. If you're thinking of buying the Collection from outside the UK, you should know that while the Blu-rays are region-free, the DVDs are locked to Region 2.

Secondly, there's no denying that although the Collection is cheaper in the UK than elsewhere, it is still very, very expensive. If you'd been hoping to buy it for a child or grandchild but decide not to, there might be a good alternative. The Blu-rays are available in a budget edition in one of the catalogue's best bargains - Harry Potter - The Complete 8-Film Collection [Blu-ray] [2011][Region Free ] - and there are two lavishly illustrated full-colour books about how the movies were made: the 160-page Harry Potter Film Wizardry (Revised and expanded) and the 532-page Harry Potter: Page to Screen . Either volume would give any Harry Potter lover the Christmas of a lifetime.
