HASH(0x9aaf3b7c) out of 5 stars Todd Listens!! Aug. 24 2011

An A-Mazing Graphic novel with an all-star team of writer-Robert Kirkman (the walking dead, invincible) and artist's including-Ryan Ottley (invincible),Greg Capullo (Spawn,Creech) and the legendary Todd Mcfarlane!! One thing must be said "Todd McFarlane listens to his fan-base!" I HATE how Marvel & DC publish there Hardbound books w/ cheap cardboard & a crappy cover jacket thats always flimsy (doesnt matter if you get it online,or @ a retail bookstore) it always comes out like its soaked in water! McFarlane gives you your moneys worth!! If youve seen his Hardbound SPAWN ORIGINS COLLECTION,then you know what im talking about. The Hardcover doesnt have a jacket, the art is actually printed on the hardcover* (which by the way looks extremely nice!!) Well as for HAUNT-amazing story, and a very unique cast of diverse characters...cant really compare it to anything else ive read.It really has its own feel, and deff not a spawn rip-off...i think Mcfarlane is back and with vengeance!

p.s-Ive bought the softbacks before this, and trust me,with all the conceptual art,and the book as a whole compendium, and not to mention the beautiful cover art from the issues (ya deff want to grab this one!!)

I purchased Haunt #1 on a whim after checking it out a bit. It looked good at that point. Anytime you can possess a priest with his dead warrior brother you should, right?
After I read it I knew I was hooked and bought "Haunt- The Immortal Edition" Book One with the first 12 issues in hardback. Definitely hooked & skewered by now...
Will be buying more because this is a tale well told by Mr. Kirkman of "Walking Dead" fame and Mr. McFarlane of "Spawn" fame.
Please read the back of "Haunt, Immortal Edition". It's a great synopsis of a great book.I'm certain that Book Two will be even better- - - with whatever that creature moving through concrete behind him is up to! Beginning to end, this book will rock your read.

Now, while I've never understood the hype that is Robert Kirkman, Seeing this title did get me a little excited, it's a dark Image universe book. As I do love Spawn, I thought I'd check it out, get a feel for something new. It's didn't work, Haunt just doesn't compel me, it looks like a Spawn knock off but lacks all of the things that made Spawn into the glorious experience that is Spawn. Instead what we get is an action comic with a little horror here and there but seemingly little character development. Another issue I had with the book was the fact that almost none of the characters seemed to have a distinct voice. They all felt bland, as if any line said could have been said by any character in the panel and you'd have had the same effect. More often than not I kept hoping that things would get better, that things would streamline and become more enjoyable but every time I was left with more "this is a derivative Spawn book" feeling and none of the characters made me care about their very existence. Maybe if you're a Kirkman fan you may like this, maybe, but for me it just felt bland and lifeless. Would have made an ok side character in the Spawn series, but don't see the merit in this character having his own standalone series, just seems too dry to me.
HASH(0x9aaf3b94) out of 5 stars Haunt deserves more comic industry exposure, way better than most of the big corperate comic book titles. March 2 2013

Already knew what to expect from the story and art, two of the best in the business responsible for the fine work. I wanted the hard cover for archival value. Not a book for young kids, maybe from 14+, some parts are faily graphic with a heavy plot subject matter even for some of that age. Very well done. A first class adult comic story. The book binding and paper quality is top notch. Very nice visual appeal with sharp glossy colors, brings out some fine detail lost in the dark look of the montly issues. The Image guys do another great job, a real credit to the comic community and worth a mention as an "art" printing not your common graphic novel production.

I never thought I'd see the day where my absolute favorite and legendary Image comics Icon, Todd McFarlane would work with the fantastic, critically acclaimed Robert Kirkman.

Was it just as good as I thought it'd be?

No, It was better.

The story is an introspective on the strained relationship of two brothers, one a priest, one a secret agent. They merged together to form some sort of supernatural powerhouse, code-named Haunt. His ectoplasmic powers and tendrils are beyond cool. The art is a fantastic mix of gore and colors. The dialogue is believable and relatable (at least to me as I have younger siblings) all while not being too far-fetched for a comic book.

The actual collected edition itself is fantastic, I'll take these wonderful library bound hardcover editions any time over those pathetic dust-jackets any day. Durable, portable, readable, wonderful, and mystical- that's this book in a nutshell.
