I’m not sure if it’s a major difference since still the Gaming Edition does record from the Cable boxes. But the IR Blaster program is design for the US Cable market and I’m in Canada.
The option to manually setup the IR Blaster is simple to do but it does not work. It’s unable to sent any signal to the cable box; I have the IR Blaster signal device directly taped to the Cable box receiver but nothing.
You’ll need to manually change to the respective cable box channel, but my cable box constantly monitoring for remote activity. If not remote activity after 6 hours, the Cable company screen saver comes on. With the IR Blaster not sending any signal, it will record the screen saver display.
If your last remote activity is 6 hours before capturing from the Cable box, best to PVR the program. Then play it back and capture it – defeat the purpose and inconvenient.
I'm sure it's fine, but if I have to tinker to get it to work every time, it's just not worth the money. Oh, I ordered this model and got the gaming model too so, I don't know.
I hate it.
