Product Description

From a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author:

No one knows the value of keeping a secret more than former high school prom king Doug Ward. But after washing the past twenty years down with a smooth glass of whisky, Doug's steely resolve has started to crack. And he doesn't want to keep quiet--not anymore.

When dried blood is found on the deck where Doug was last seen, Private Sloane finesses her way into the surveillance room and sees an image she'll never forget: Doug being stabbed repeatedly, then heaved over the railing of the cruise ship, his body plunging into the icy depths below.

How many more will die before Sloane uncovers the biggest secret of all?

I enjoyed reading this story, although there were things in it I found a bit unrealistic. The characters were not fully three-dimensional, but the plot was pretty good. If you're just looking for something to pass the time, this book fills the bill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff! Feb. 19 2015

In this third Sloane Monroe book, Sloane gets thrown back into her past when she attends her class reunion on a cruise ship. But wherever she goes, a new case isn't too far behind. One of her popular classmates is murdered and, of course, his wife hires Sloane to find the killer. Sloane and her new boy toy, Giovanni, head back to her home town, where she hasn't been for 20 years. Soon more of her classmates are being murdered and Sloane is having a hard time pinning down a suspect and a reason why these popular guys are being killed. No one is as good as Sloane is though, and no one can hunt down leads like she can. And the murderer is not happy she is getting so close to finding him- which is making Sloane another potential victim.

This book was a quick read, was really entertaining, had an original plot and had the great character background stories that I've come to love about the Sloan Monroe mysteries. Not one of my top favorites in the series but still a really good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating secret... Jan. 1 2016

I can't believe I have had this book on my Kindle for so long. I Have A Secret, by Cheryl Bradshaw, just made me her newest fan.

P.I. Sloane Monroe is back in her hometown for her high school reunion cruise, when one of her classmates is killed aboard the cruise ship. Sloane manages to slip into the investigation room, and sees his body was thrown over the side into the black murky water. Sloane promises the victims widow she would find the killer. What unfolds, is a secret that goes back over twenty years. This is another Cheryl Bradshaw boo; that is filled with twists and turns to keep you reading long past midnight.

4.0 out of 5 stars I HAVE A SECRET Feb. 29 2016

I love the Sloane Monroe books, she is an interesting, unusual character. They can be read as stand alone's, I have not been reading them in order. In this book she goes back to her childhood home to solve the murder of a friend, she is tenacious to the end- putting herself in danger. She is a great character, a little OCD and very feisty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good light read Feb. 7 2013

i thought the book was well paced and generally well written - with the exception of a couple of egregiously misused words. They were spelled correctly - they were simply inappropriate for the context and apparent intended meaning of the sentence. I did not read the preceding books in the series so perhaps am less enthusiastic than a reader who has been following the series and knows the characters better. However, given my limited exposure to the series, I found little character development, even of the main character, and the supporting characters were either uni-dimensional (e.g. the unremittingly evil cop) or largely undeveloped (wife of the murdered man). Some of the plot points were pretty unbelievable or relied on unlikely coincidences. But, as a quick read and a cheap kindle book, it was fine - a few hours of distraction, no great intellectual challenges.

4.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Home Again Feb. 6 2013

Private Investigator Sloane Monroe joined her high school classmates on a cruise commemorating their 20th reunion. While renewing old friendships and old grudges, one of the men, Doug, disappears. The surveillance tapes show that he was stabbed multiple times and his body was thrown overboard.
His body is not found, nor is the murderer identified. The classmates, including return to their lives. Doug's wife, Trista, wants to hire Sloane to help solve the murder. Sloane refuses to take any money for the work and returns to her hometown to find out who killed him. While she is there, additional classmates are stabbed to death and she receives messages (slashed tires, notes) telling her to drop the case.
She discovers family secrets and relives one of her own on a visit to her family's home. There is a logic to the story except that one of the main characters is not qualified for his job. I can't imagine why he is working in that position.
The book is fast paced with minimal repetition and believable dialogue.
I got this book as an Amazon Freebie.
