HeavyWeight 2 an upgrade from the 1st

I ordered HW2 because I loved HW Yoga and I wanted a new routine to choose from. I was disappointed that HW2 was not a completely new routine. This is an improved version on HW Yoga. Easier to understand the selections and I liked that you got to see her class and the different adaptations made by her students. For the most part the routine is the same although she has added some wonderful hip stretches and the balancing pose is different. If you had to order one of the DVD's get HW2 but if you already have the first you might not want to get this one because it's not that different from the first.

Full Figured and Doing Yoga!

I like this video, this was my first experience with yoga. I think for me I appreciate the fact that she has an assortment of body types and ages in her video. For me there's nothing worse than seeing a class full of fit people smiling and doing the exercises your huffing and puffing to do while you work out. I choose to start with the second video because I wanted her most recent release and I read a few reviews from her first that suggested it. My only dislike was a few positions she moved through a bit fast where most of the others were done a bit longer. It could be just me and my experience thus far in yoga though. I would say this is great for people with no fitness level, people who are fuller figured, and people who have had many years of life. People who are fit, experienced in fitness, looking for a challenge and have taken several yoga classes this is probably not for you. I suggest getting a stretch out yoga strap, she uses a strap in her video and it definitely helps to get a good stretch in before you start and during the video. You can check out the one I use in my other review if you like. She also uses a rolled blanket or towel and some people use a yoga block. I will be getting a yoga block. Of course a good yoga mat is suggested, I've reviewed one that has a lifetime warranty just in case your looking for one of those as well.
Really nice, gentle class…great hip sequence

This is a wonderful gentle class, far more gentle than other plus-size yoga DVDs I have. Still, don't discount it. There is a wonderful, long sequence of hip openers and stretches which I adore. She does what appears to be a modified moon salutation which is a nice change from the usual sun salutations. Abby uses both American and sanskrit names for poses. I love how Abby offers positive affirmations/encouragements throughout. I wish the relaxation bit at the end had been more along the lines of a guided relaxation. Still, I enjoyed the class and will add this into my rotation.
Very Encouraging Instructor with Diverse Students!

I really like this video for many reasons. The most important for me is that it is like being in a real yoga class specifically designed for people with larger, rounder bodies. The class begins with breathing, moves to warm up, then yoga postures, then relaxation. It follows a vinyasa type flow by coordinating breathe to movement. Then movement is followed with a rest period to reflect upon the results of the movement. This is how I originally learned yoga. Because the instructor is Iyengar certified and a big woman, she knows how to provide the instructions that are important for larger bodies. There are no references to weight loss. Instead focus is on appreciating the body as it is. I enjoyed the diversity within the students and enjoyed the section of the video where each describes their yoga journey. Soft music accompanies the instruction. I bought the instructor's first DVD but I like this one much better. You will feel relaxed and energized.

Great video and inspiring. To see these very large people doing yoga is wonderful. Yoga stretches and is an aid to healing in ways you would not realize. The fact that she reaches out to the larger people community is wonderful. I would highly recommend to everyone who would like to begin exercise or even yoga and think they cannot.
