About the Author

With parents that both lived into their 90’s who experienced numerous health challenges Kathryn had a lot of experience with taking care of family. After her father’s death in 2005 her aging mother needed assistance and eventually needed around the clock care. At the same time her mother-in law began to have health problems as well. Traveling back and forth the 250 miles to care for them Kathryn learned the stress that a family caregiver often must face. Trying to balance a job, family and take care of aging parents was a struggle at times. Many of Kathryn's coaching clients were in the same boat. Searching for information and care options was quite a challenge. Everybody seemed to just be trying to sell something to her. This frustration led Kathryn to create a web directory and Find Houston Senior Care was born. Filled with information and resources families in the Houston area can do their own search, easily and effortlessly. Today Kathryn helps families who are overwhelmed figure out what the best solution for their family will be. As an Independent Elder Care Advisor, coaching families to sometimes make tough choices is what she does best. Learn more at and

HASH(0x9cc83990) out of 5 stars Very helpful book Oct. 17 2013

I read "Help! My Parents Are Aging" because I like the author--not because I thought it would help me. Therefore I was very surprised to find myself nodding and taking notes as I read. My mother is a young 71 years old, but now I see that it's the perfect time to begin putting Kathryn Watson's sound advice to work. Her very personable and caring manner is evident in the way the book is written, with a clear format that addresses a myriad of issues/concerns most of us will eventually have to face. It explains the wide variety of options in detail and also includes an exhaustive list of questions one should ask/consider when deciding on where an aging parent should reside. Interspersed in the narrative are poignant and illustrative stories which draw the reader in and underscore the point Kathryn is making. This book is an excellent resource and I highly recommend it!

Help! My Parents Are Aging is an amazing little book. I bought my copy the day it was released.

It is concise, heart-felt, and full of up to date options for those facing the dilemma of what to do about the inevitable. Many people feel badly or guilty about the decisions that have to face. Kathryn's book addresses the emotions and helps people get on with making the tough decision. She speaks to younger people on how to prepare now so that their loved ones won't have to face what they are now dealing with.

GREAT JOB Kathryn!

HASH(0x9cc83e1c) out of 5 stars This is a Must Read! Sept. 25 2013

Format: Kindle Edition
This book is a MUST READ for anyone with aging parents. After being employed in the senior living industry for several years I have a clear understanding about the benefits of being informed before the crisis occurs. This book can be used as an educational tool and guide through senior living in an otherwise confusing maze of acronyms and choices. I urge anyone who is starting their search or interested in knowing more before beginning a search to grab of copy of this book. Help! My parents are well written and a very easy read.
