The Waterloo based Lazaridis Institute's White Paper of late 2015 identified a paucity of talent and material to assist firms in scaling sales from millions to billions. Reading High Output Management provides an excellent start and much ongoing guidance on what it take to do this, including topics such as organization design, dealing with individual direct report, introducing a key concept - variability of task related maturity of the direct report-, linking the much dreaded and derided performance reviews to output, and tying personal time management to the leverage the activity has on output. Ever the consummate teacher, Grove concludes with exercises to improve the individual manager's performance.
Read and learn from this guideline to successful survival. Do the exercises. Tap into a hidden secret of Silicon Valley. Take action. Apply the knowledge throughout your company regardless of its stage.
Grove has managed to capture the essence of what a company is all about by using simple examples. No, this isn't a high concept leading edge management text. However, it does communicate the fundamentals of running a manufacturing company clearly and simply. It provides a foundation on which you can build the knowledge of the leading edge theories.
happens when focused on the right things. He gives perspective on how to
determine that. Then also how to get results. This book is specific, to
the point. No fluff. He writes well and he has a track record of
incredible success that few have equaled. If you MUST get results then get the book.
