HASH(0xa1ba642c) out of 5 stars Confessions May 9 2008
By Ellen W. - Published on
Format: Paperback
In volume 2 of "High School Debut," Haruna realized that she liked Yoh. Now she wants to tell him, but she's not sure she should. After all, he did tell her not to fall for him. Haruna is afraid that Yoh will find out (since she's so transparent),that she starts avoiding Yoh, and freaking out when she does see him. Would telling him ruin the relationship she already has with him? Can she risk it?

With most shojo manga, the confession is the climax of the series. Not so with "High School Debut." And I really admire that about the series. It doesn't waste time with a lot of drama that keeps the couple apart. Instead, it focuses on the relationship. And this manga also deals with some very real problems that couples go through. In this volume, we see the difference in Haruna and Yoh's maturity- they go on a "date" to the beach, but Haruna plays the whole time. She realizes that she doesn't really know how to be a girlfriend. I thought this was refreshingly new and realistic subject matter.

Volume 3 is where "High School Debut" really swings into action. If you've read the first two volumes, it's definitely worth it.
HASH(0xa1ba6480) out of 5 stars This one had me squealing like a teenage girl. Feb. 5 2014
By ReviewerGirl - Published on
Format: Paperback
I'm not surprised at all about what takes place in this volume. Right from the beginning Yoh tells Haruna not to fall for him. So right there I knew, Haruna is going to fall in love with Yoh. I'm just surprised it took this long.

When Haruna realizes that she's developed feelings for Yoh, she freaks out. She broke his rule and she doesn't know what to do. She's horrible at hiding things from her since he can read her like an open book. So how the heck is she going to keep this from him? She tried ignoring him and being as short with him as she can but Yoh quickly picks up on it and demands to know what's going on.

This book, I will admit, had me (inwardly) squealing like a teenage girl. I don't know what but all I could think was finally! And, he's so sweet to her! Even though I think Haruna falls in "love" fast, I totally saw them being a couple. So to me, her falling for one guy and then shortly another, didn't feel rushed. To men, this was who she was supposed to love.

I loved it! This comment is more about the physical book itself: the only thing I didn't like was that it's really flimsy. Moreso than other 3-in-1 volumes I own.
