I personally met Mr. Wayne in 1999. I saw his ambition, motivation, love for money, woman, alcohol, etc. We would sit in his and Laurie's salon drinking beer and smoking cigars. We would talk life and business. During the time Mr. Wayne and myself we're much different then we are today. Much more self destructive. Although we were destructive we always had a good time and enjoyed each others company.
We lost contact for some years after Mr. Wayne went on vacation to a place know one ever wants to go. Even after he was released we did not reunite. I was running my businesses while he was doing the same. I found Mr. Wayne on Facebook and decided to contact him. In doing so I realizes he had written a book (Higher and Higher). I new I had to read the book. I mean who would not read a book about a friend of family member?
As I read the book I was hooked. There were many similarities in his life and mine. A life starting with lows and reaching highs. A life that seemed would never go away that just crumbled like the tower of Babylon. Finding God and realizing he was always there. When all was lost and felt hopeless finding a way into a new life of love, trust, and happiness.
What I got out of the book was that we all strive for greatness. We all get lost in sin and wonder down the wrong path. We all lust and live in vanity, at least I did. When life gets bad and we feel like giving up or that know one cares about us we are wrong. Our true friends, family, and our creater always loved us, always want the best for us. Sometimes we are to blind to see the truth right in front of us. We are blinded by greed, ego, alcohol, drugs, ect. We hurt people that love us. In the end as we except the truth we not only become happy within ourselves but we also make everyone else happy around us. This book showed me a man like Mr. Wayne could turn his life over to Christ and find the love and happiness he would not find anywhere else. I know it's true because I myself found God. I always new him from a young age but was blinded by sin. God was there waiting for me when I came around. If you are lost and feel alone. If you are feeling like you are on top of the world and unhappy, if you feel like you are alone, if you feel like you have lost everything, if you feel like god does not exist purchase this book and read it. You will find that Mr. Wayne has shared your feeling. That Mr. Wayne found happiness through love not through materialism. That he has found piece through our creater and you can to. I am speaking from experience. Pick up a copy and start change in your life today. See for yourself where the path of sin will lead you. See that you can find happiness from the bottom. Never give up because you are loved. I hope you enjoyed my review.
Thank you Mr. Wayne for sharing your life story with us. Your a great guy and I wish you all the love and joy in this life and the next. Great having you as a friend.
He replied:” I am Leonard Wayne and I wrote a book “Beast of Addiction”. I didn’t realize the book he was holding onto was “Higher and Higher” and was about Wayne himself. All I can remember is, him saying that he was in a Martial Arts tournament where he knocked out the Shaolin priest, and his advice to him was: ”Next time, stay focused!”
My wife Batista read the book first and for the next few weeks, all I heard from her was:” If you don’t read the book, Leonard Wayne will know. You can’t pull the wool over his eyes. Don’t mess with him!”
I haven’t sat down to read a book in over 12 years, so it was difficult to sit through all the shenanigans. However, as reluctant as I was, it changed my perspective on life in many ways. The gift to me was through the pictures that came up of possibilities that there is no room for negative thoughts, only conquering what lies across the road in this journey called life.
It made me realize on a deeper level that life isn’t a bowl of cherries; to love and to be grateful for whom I am and not waste the gifts I have to offer the world.
The book is a must read. Leonard is articulate, strong, confident and willing to share his gifts of knowledge patiently. He is willing to share the ups and downs of his life and reminds us, through his book, to keep flowing like a river instead of being a pebble in the rivers of chaos and disappointments that come up unexpectedly.
I would have liked to hear more about how he was able to replace his addictive behavior with healthy eating, meditation, and strength training to keep his body so powerfully strong. Maybe in his next book?
Leonard Wayne’s commitment to health must stand as an example, not only to people suffering from the plague of addiction, but also to other therapists who have let their bodies go to waste. Leonard Wayne walks the talk.
