5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff! April 19 2012

Lets be real. If you have read all the books leading up to this one, You wont be disappointed. If this is the first one you pick up (which would be rather peculiar) then there will be little you understand.
The art is good, and the volume gets into some pretty heavy emotional stuff by the end. This time the color pages are in order (unlike volume 5) and there's tons of extra goodies at the end. Overall, a great read!
5.0 out of 5 stars "I hate that I'm getting used to this!" Feb. 7 2014

Highschool of the Dead volume 6 contains chapters 23-25 and is a direct continuation of previous volumes. It's best to start at the beginning.

This volume continues the shopping center arc started in volume 5. Takashi's group, as well as the other current "residents" of the center, have to decide what to do going forward with "Them" threatening at every turn. This was my favorite volume yet. The conflicts and difficult discussions arise naturally and have great impact on the characters. There's surprising twists, the whole story is framed and told exquisitely, and it all builds to an incredible, heart-wrenching moment.

The art is the usual first rate effort and some of the splash pages at key dramatic moments are particularly amazing.

Overall a phenomenal volume to close out one of the best storylines of the series. I was somewhat expecting Highschool of the Dead to loose steam this far in and am pleasantly surprised to see it gaining momentum instead.

yo, so hotd volume 6 is out waiting for number seven. if you liked the anime clearly u got to read this. i actually like the manga more due to the fact that it gets to the point. this volume to me caps off why i think this is a brillant series. without giving away too much the characters are faced with a decision which is not to be taken lightly, yet on the other hand the group itself is fighting a tense situation inside its ranks. fan service is still here but what i like is that we a gradually moving into more adult zone and tone of the series. recommended. if you havent read the manga and watched the anime, just note the anime skips, replaces and jumbles the events that occur in the manga.

As the story progresses this volume is about the disappearing power that the government and law enforcement have over the the budding new world order. What once was taken for granted and gave a sense of security is gone and now leaves an uncertain emptiness in its wake.

This series is still going strong. Between the beautifully done artwork and the thrilling, "I can't seem to put this book down for the life of me", story. It will hook you and not let you go.

If you've made it this far; what's stopping you now?
5.0 out of 5 stars HOTD 6 May 19 2014

Full color editions of the HOTD series certainly have more visual impact than the b&w standard manga editions. More great Zombie Horror Action with least sexy Fan Service of all the volumes so far. But still another great volume in a Great series. A new member joined the Takaki Gang and promptly lost to "them" while trying to rescue one of the Mall refugees. This a true seminal landmark work of the the Zombie genre!
