Product Description

After witnessing a murder, Amy's running from a vicious gang. Her last dollar brings her to Smokey’s Roadhouse, a rough biker bar in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, where she takes a job in the hope of saving some money before the killers are again hot on her heels.

The last thing she expects is her ex-stepbrother, Rex, to show up. To her relief, he doesn’t recognize her, but he comes on to her like a bike in flames and she has to find the will to resist both the childhood dream he’d rescue her from her abusive father and today’s lightning spark. Amy’s still not out of hot water because a girl on the run is vulnerable. When one of the toughest bikers in the bar makes it clear he’ll have her—with or without her consent— will Rex stand up for her not knowing who she is? Or will she have to tell him her secret and reveal that the fire between them is forbidden?

Would-be rock star Rex is a man who knows what he wants and usually gets it, especially if it’s a woman—and it always is. When the band’s bus catches fire leaving him stranded at a hole in the wall roadhouse, and the sexy barmaid needs a favor, he’s willing to grant it—with strings attached.

She’ll do anything to leave, even if it means accepting the sizzling bargain only she knows is forbidden. And he’ll do anything to achieve the fame he’s always craved, not knowing the attention will mark her for murder—or worse.

About the Author

Like you, I'm a reader. When I read a good story with characters I can connect with, my everyday existence fades into the background as I enter a world that may contain exotic locations, adventure and excitement. And, if I can be totally honest with you, in my favorite stories I can fall in love for a while with an impossibly gorgeous guy who is the best lover imaginable. So, maybe it won't come as a surprise that in my books you'll find hot alpha male book-boyfriends, sassy heroines who are much more clever and beautiful than I am, and stories I hope will make you laugh and cry while reading them, as I did while writing them. Oh, and some scenes you may want to role-play with your lover. I write hot, steamy romance novels with popular tropes, like billionaires, cowboys, rock stars, stepbrothers...and sometimes more than one in the same guy! My stories are for fun, so you'll find some humor in them as well. I hope you like them.

This is the first time read anything by this amazing author and wow what a great story This was brilliant read that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wanting more. This story starts out with poor Amy (Amanda) a runaway who's childhood was o traumatic, After Ricky (Rex) an his Mother leaves her with her abusive father, but they left her with him. So she can't take it no more and decides to runaway because she needs a better life .So But omg it just got more out of hand. So let's jump ahead a few years and see what Amy is up to, she got a job at a biker bar in little juke of a town ,when in walks Rex who's a member of a band who 's on their way to perform at a Battle of the Bands competition to get people to know them. But as Amy spots Rex panic sets in because Rex is Amy's ex step brother ,but will he remember her or not because it has been 17 years since the his mom and him left Amy in that house. When things begin to get bad at the biker bar because the younger crowd starts to bring drugs in the bar Amy knows it time to move on before the Cortel comes, before that's who is after Amy .Because she witness him gunning down someone in front her now he wants her. She knows sooner or later he'll get to her too. I could go on and tell you more but that would spoil this story for you ,I recommend you to read this great story for yourself you won't be disappointed

A series of unfortunate events just might be the best thing to happen to a bar and a band

How did that famous quote from that old movie go? Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world... Well, this was a biker bar, not a gin joint, and there wasn't really a town nearby. But to have my long-lost stepbrother show up in the very place I'd washed up a month earlier like flotsam from a shipwreck - that was the same kind of irony. Thank God he wouldn't recognize me. I'd been ten years old when he last saw me seventeen years ago. Too bad for my battered heart that I now recognized what I'd only sensed as a child. My stepbrother the rock star was hot. (Amazon blurb)

Amy has to be one of the strongest woman I have met while reading: she's survived addiction, prostitution, beatings and so much more that I can only have nightmares about thinking about it. It's no wonder she keeps running from not only her past, but from those who want her either dead or worst. Rex remembers leaving with his mother 17 years ago his stepfather and hasn't had a family since, because his mother died shortly afterwards. Now, Rex comes face to face with his stepfather's daughter, Amy, but doesn't recognize her, and wants her - both of them can't deny their attraction for each other. The start of a new series by Jessa Jacobs, the Smokey's Roadhouse series is amazing: new friendships are found with the gruffiest biker gang who protect the newest member, the strength of will of individuals are tested daily and especially, trust is the biggest issue as the past and present must be explained to ensure a future. I'm really hoping for more in the series simply because Jessa Jacobs wrote a heart wrenching novel and beautiful story.

I loved the first 1/3 of the book. Poor guys stuck in a bar for a week trying to make a go at a chance for stardom and a barmaid with a checkered past. The second 1/3 was kind of bland for me. Skipped through a lot of it. But, with a strong comeback in the last 1/3 made me glad I'd stuck with it. HEA

Ever since the whole step-sibling theme took off and people calling it taboo. I have been read more books of this theme as I wanted to see if there was a book that truly could live up to the tabbo label . As most of the these books, the protagonists meet as adults and there is no blood relations involved so why calling it taboo. Highway Song already of the bat starts with being slightly different with the premise.

The hero and heroine, knew each other as children,. However they haven’t lay eyes on each other in years. Rick now going by Rex is a career musician trying to get his big break and Amy is a now a woman who trying to keep one step ahead of her past. Until they both happen to end up Smokey Roadhouse a bar in the middle of nowhere thanks to a bus breaking down.

The book picks up from that point, and it is not the most engaging start. It hard to connect to and you will have to push through . The book is a rough gem and does improve as time goes by as the author finds her groove and style. . But you need to put in the hard yards with the book first as once you get hooked you will come to love Amy and Rex.

The author coaxes the story out of these two carefully. It is full of vivid details, it may drag slightly in places as the author does goes through the nitty gritty during the time Rex being stuck. It only a matter of days but the author seems to find to go through flashbacks and more making it seem way longer. In those flashback however , the story starts to fall into place. Why they haven’t seen each other since childhood and why they are the way that they are now.

You can’t help love these characters, Amy a woman who has to grown up pretty fast and now a woman with a tough exterior but in reality is vulnerable as hell because of her past. She closeted off and until Rex she hasn’t loved anyone. She hasn’t anyone she can delve either unwilling to let anyone get hurt. It a sorry existence of her life, but Rex is someone different.

Rex does come out as the typical rockstar but he isn’t. He may have the looks and take the perks but deep down there is a guy who wants something more. He can’t be help feel something for her the moment that he see her. Never expecting it be the girl he remembers from childhood. I love the transformation and the length that he was willing to go through to keep Amy safe. He was truly a protector and I love him because of this/

Though it had it problems, I couldn’t help enjoy their story as there was heartfelt story underneath everything.

4 couples.

This was an okay read, it was great to start with and ended well but I did a lot of skimming towards the middle.

Amy witnessed something she shouldn’t have and now is running for her life. Her money ran out in a tiny town and she’s managed to get a job as a bartender at a bar owned by the local MC. While working one evening a bands tour bus breaks down in the parking lot and one of the band members is none other than Amy’s ex-stepbrother, Rex. Amy is afraid that Rex will remember her but luckily he doesn’t, he does however decide that he wants Amy but so does one of the MC members are things really get interesting. When the band is finally able to leave the bar Amy wants to go with them because she doesn’t believe she’s safe at the bar any longer.

This is a great story, very original plotline, I’ve never read anything quite like it. Rex is your typical rockstar at the start but he quickly realizes he wants more with Amy and this turns into a cute romance with an HEA.

HASH(0xa4fcf624) out of 5 stars Edge Of Your Seat, And Not Able To Set Down Your Book Sept. 30 2015

***I received a ARC in exchange for a honest review***

From the word go aka the synopsis I was hooked. This book is definitely different then many of the books I have read. To be missing at sea at the age of ten, and turn up seventeen or so years later is crazy! Even crazier is to see your step-brother of all people, at the very same biker's bar you're at, of all places. He may not of recognized you, but you definitely recognized him. Even back them, you could tell he would turn out hott, and hott did he turn out to be. This book has you fanning yourself, while sitting at the edge of your seat not able to set the book down let alone for a glass of water. Five stars all the way, it was a truly pleasing book and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good read out there!
