I found this product both cheap in price, but also cheap in quality. The buttons were loose from the time it arrived at my door. It was also not that user friendly. It's been sitting in the box (because my daughter lost majority of inserts while opening for her bday, hence the lack of return of product) since she received it as a gift. Wouldn't recommend or buy again.

I bought this at 22.99$. I LOVE it. First of all, it is cute, small, it has every functionnality !

The Good :
- Small
- Cute

The Bad :
- Menu Is hard to navigate through
- When you don't read the manual and try to use it, you will want to return the thing.

I have transferred my MP3's over, it connects easily to my stereo system, sound is crystal clear - you do need to buy a good audio cable. It has the shuffle ! You can easily transfer pictures and view them. I LOVE it... perfect item for the price !! I bought it for my 7 year old daughter and it is hours and hours of music and fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all, but far from perfect. 3.5 Stars. July 10 2016
By Minkosaurus - Published on Amazon.com
Does not deserve the beating that it got from other customers, unless their units were defective, which I can believe, the quality control being what it is in China.

At first glance it's a very cheap, light unit, costing more than it's worth. When you explore the features, however, you can raise that opinion a few notches. The lightness is an advantage, if you carry it in your breast pocket, not feeling the weight. The sound is fine, if you discard the lousy headphones. I like the fadeout when you skip forward or backward. I also like the way you can easily mark and delete favorite radio stations and get back to them, and the reception is fine. Volume is easy to change, and it remains set when you turn the unit off !!!NOT USING THE MASTER ON/OFF SWITCH!!! (Believe me, this bit of information will save you a lot of aggravation). The same also goes for the position in the song list - it remains where you left it. The battery charges very quickly and lasts quite a long time, but I need to test this some more. The song files can be stored in folders, and the unit lets you browse the folders very efficiently with a single button. It's easy to transfer the files - it works like a standard flash drive, and you don't need to use the supplied solftware unless you are a software geek. It also has a bass enhancer and equalizer presets, which I have not yet tested. Don't waste your time, you won't be able to hear them unless you discard the crappy earphones.

Now, the bad parts. First, the buttons (sigh...). This is where the unit could have been better built, but then, nothing is perfect, not even the holy Apple products. It takes some time to get used to pressing them properly, if your fingers are as clumsy like mine. Second, the little s***ty speaker at the back of the unit is totally useless, and as of yet, I haven't found any way to disable it (or rip it out). If you keep the volume setting low (12/40, which is comfortable for my ears, you won't hear it, and neither will your companions). Third, as I already mentioned twice, the earphones are worthless, Dollarama variety, and you need to use something decent to evaluate the sound quality and settings. Again, this is something that can learn to live with, if you like the other features, which are rather good in my opinion.

My advice is - use it for a while before running back to Walmart to return it, you might actually get to like it.

Hope this helps!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't even think about buying this. Aug. 21 2014
By MTEQC - Published on Amazon.com
Seriously, there is but one possible reason to make this purchase.

If you're thinking stocking stuffers, consider a piece of coal or a rock instead, they will be put to better use. Even a dead parrot could at least get some laughs from the proper fans.

This thin brittle plastic device with self-aware buttons and a low-life battery has been impregnated with an interface probably based on ancient Byzantine architecture. Either that, or it also serves as a secret map left behind after Dante's travel through the various circle of hell.

Part of its assumed charm is undoubtedly the ability to "crossfade" any music that dire persistence would eventually enable you to play in the same random manner a heavily loaded 3AM train slowly rubbing metal brakes on metal tracks could crossfade the sweet oblivion of sleep into brutal awakening.

I gave it one star since it is clearly a perfect office gift exchange item, would you have been assigned the name of someone who has spent the last decade scheming to get you fired. Otherwise, I am sure you can find better - probably cheaper too. Anything else, is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only player that I found understands Audiobook formats Feb. 9 2013
By SHochstein - Published on Amazon.com
I found the Hip Street MP3 player to be the only player that works really well for audiobooks. It did not reorganize my audiobook into a random list. The player kept the chapters in order and when it turns off after the battery goes low, it remembers where in the book I was listening. I tried 2 other more expensive players and one reorganized all of the chapters from the disc and the other totally did not bookmark where you had left off. I have just 2 complaints: it takes a long time to power up after I pause it momentarily, when I am interrupted. The other problem is when I need to fast-forward, the FF and Rew is slow. But these issues are minor compared to the issues I had with all other players I bought and tried out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Total Garbage Dec 25 2012
By Amanda Brindle - Published on Amazon.com
Got a Hipstreet Crossfade 4G MP3 player. Asking for it to be returned for money. I'll grant that it uploaded all the songs I have stored on my computer but other than that this thing is 100% crap. It's impossible to navigate, there is no option for a playlist and the graphics are garbage. I want something simple to navigate, simple to upload music to and something I can make a playlist on. I would avoid all of their merchandise. It's shoddily made and there are plenty of other cheaper brands out there that are far superior.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Item --- Don't buy Aug. 13 2012
By D. Bell - Published on Amazon.com
This product is cheaply made and didn't work when I received it. The instruction manual has such small print and cheaply made which goes along with their product. The Hip Street 4GB MP3 player is a bust stay away.....
