Product Description

Review

"Homegrown is a must-have cookbook and should sit proudly on every Canadian cook's bookshelf. Not only does it contain seasonal recipes from coast to coast to coast, but it introduces us to the famers and producers who work hard to ensure our population can purchase good quality local food and products. I've realized that I buy imported products that can be found here in Canada and now I will make an effort to buy Canadian. Homegrown is a cookbook that every Canadian should be proud of."

Bought Mairlyn's book last week.. I spent an afternoon at home in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea reading it. It is so well presented with a lot of information on grains and veggies etc and how to purchase them - all of which I found extremely helpful and interesting. The recipes are beautifully illustrated and I really love that the nutritional content is listed at the end of each recipe. I will not ever buy another book that doesn't include this information. I tried the Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Cranberries last night for supper and even my husband liked it. We both have avoided sprouts for many years as we grew up with mothers who boiled them and plopped these tasteless green globs onto our plates. Ugh!
Mairlyn has given them a whole new life. The rest of the cookbook is going to be my bible for recipes this winter. I am going to try really hard to buy and eat what is in season only this winter. Well done! A great informative cookbook.

I have made Mairlyn's Yorkshire Pudding with the beef roast about 4 times now -- the most amazing Yorkies!!! The beef stew is fabulous too - best done in the slow cooker. And Butter Tarts are nice and runny in this cool (and easy) cream cheese crust (no fail). Best of all - a cheer for all the fine foods that are grown right here!!

The book is excellent! I bought several copies as gifts! It is packed with great tips from Professional Home Economists, super nutrition
information, easy recipe instructions and great facts about food produced in Canada.

However, my Amazon order of the books did not show up, ever! After a long wait - I had to buy from Chapters.

I bought many copies of this cookbook to give to friends and family. It's a great addition to anyone's cookbook library. I love that the ingredients are all Canadian. It's so important to support local farmers and producers. The recipes are easy to follow and delicious.

It is an excellent book. I gave 3 away for Christmas gifts and kept one for me. I also had Health Starts Here and showed it to my daughter in law asking if she would like a copy so I got one for her Birthday.

I love this book! The recipes are great but the wealth of information is incredible. The only drawback is a lack of recipe photography, I prefer to know what my food should end up looking like. All in all a really great read!
