Product Description

Dr. Mackenzie Daniels was a loner. He had the divorce, a far-away family, and well-known cranky persona to prove it. And if he had his way, he would continue on his loner way, in spite of the attempts of the townspeople to infiltrate his life with their irritating, so-called charming ways. That was...until he met the beautiful Nurse Millicent Robbins.

Millie Robbins had done the love and marriage thing, and all she could say was that she got a beautiful daughter out of the entire debacle. Love was not in her long-term plans when she graduated from nursing school, thank you very much....until she found herself falling head over heels for the grouchiest but most gorgeous doctor she’d ever met.

Can Mack and Millie find their way to love in spite of their histories? Can happiness actually exist for two star-crossed lovers?

Join the entire town of Paradise for a Christmas celebration of lasting love!

Sarah O’Rourke’s Homespun Holiday, Novella for the Passion in Paradise series, is a must read for the series followers. Homespun Holiday can be read as a standalone Christmas read about a close knit Tennessee town. Either way it will be a sweet read from Sarah O’Rourke.
Dr. Mackenzie Daniels, OB-GYN, is a divorced 42 year old grouchy loner and he likes it this way. Everyone in Paradise thinks he needs to be cared for except the one person, no make that two, who have wormed their way into his life and heart.

When two individuals get burnt by love, they swear it off until they meet each other and start questioning themselves

Can Mack and Millie find their way to love in spite of their histories? Can happiness actually exist for two star-crossed lovers? (Amazon Blurb)

Being burned by the after effects of realizing that love no longer exists in your marriage can be catastrophic, especially when men like Mackenzie Daniels, a medical practitioner, would rather spend his days as a loner and as a recluse. Millie Robbins has also done the love, the marriage and the divorce, and lives with her daughter wanting nothing to do with love and relationships for as long as she can avoid them. It just so happens that these two jaded individuals live in a town where meddling is a sport and requirement when there are problems or it is believed that a situation needs to be guided in a certain direction.

HASH(0x9b5664d4) out of 5 stars 5 STARS! Nov. 29 2015

This novella focus on Dr. Mack McDaniels and his nurse, single mom, Millie Robbins. Dr. Mack, the town's OB-GYN - and a notorious grouch - has been alone, by choice, since his divorce several years earlier. No one's sparked his interest, well no one other than his new nurse, Millie. She's the total package: brains, a red-headed bombshell and the mother of precocious five-year-old Paisley, one of the few people in Paradise who've managed to penetrate the good doctor's gruff persona.

Millie Robbins readily admits that the sex-on-a-stick boss of hers is a pleasure to look at, but that's where the pleasure ends. He's gruff, demanding and, at times, downright rude. But he's also shown her glimpses of a softer side in his dealings with Paisley. When she butts in and sets Mack up for a Christmas surprise, the good doctor decides one good turn deserves another. As they prepare for the holidays, it isn't just the lights on the tree burning bright in Paradise!

I loved this addition to the fantastic Passion in Paradise: The Men of the McKinnon Sisters series by the talented writing duo, Sarah O'Rourke. This sweet and sexy short story is another hit in this great series!

HASH(0x9b566720) out of 5 stars Sweet and quirky Dec 2 2015

Favorite Quotes:

“According to my niece, Heaven, and her friend Paisley, whiners are wieners. Haven’t you heard?”

“Damn, but the man looked like tall drink of water on a hot summer’s day. Unfortunately, she knew that a single sip of that water would probably send her headlong into the local ER with a bad case of cholera or something equally hideous.”

“And honestly, the woman looked like she’d been sucking on a lemon for the last decade or so, and she was fairly certain that if Miss Simmons bent over, they’d find a stick lodged firmly between her butt cheeks.”

“It’s like this… I think I’ve already gots a daddy, but I don’t remember him a’tall. I think his name is Dumb@… That’s what I heared my Auntie Bethanne call him all the time!”

“Oh, please. I think half those morons in the auditorium this morning were dropped on their heads while they were infants, and the other half’s parents much have smoked everything but their socks before the kids were born. It’s the only explanation I can come up with for some of the idiotic things that came out of their mouths."

“See, when I realize that the person that makes me feel completely whole has been underneath my nose for months, and I did nothing about it, it makes me feel vaguely homicidal. It also makes me want to do something that will make her a permanent part of my life in such a way that she’ll never be able to escape.”

My Review:

Finally! A delightful yet fresh, humorous, and highly entertaining holiday story that doesn’t attempt to rip my heart from my chest cavity. The Homespun Holiday was a quick, easy to follow, and sweet read that was just – sigh – perfection! Hunky doctor, sweet and sassy nurse, adorable child, odd relatives, quirky friends, undeniable chemistry – and when they finally decided to go all in – the sensuality was combustible. I want Santa to send me to Paradise, Tennessee.

HASH(0x9b566960) out of 5 stars A must read holiday story! Dec 2 2015

Even if you haven’t read the other books in the Passion in Paradise series, you can read this one as a complete standalone. However, if you have read the other books this is a great Christmas story that will give you updates on the characters from the other books.
I am a complete sucker for Christmas books, and this one drew me in completely right from the start. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen to Mack and Millie because the chemistry between the two of them was off the charts. I really have come to love how even though O’Rourke writes such great Alpha male characters, they all are completely different and stand on their own. There’s no repeating of character traits in any of the stories, this one included.
Part of why I loved this book so much was it was more than just a “regular” romance. There were parts where I was laughing my butt off with how great the story was, and how the characters all interacted with each other. You can tell the connection and feelings that everyone has towards each other, because it feels like it’s coming right up off the pages.
O’Rourke has a great skill in writing books that have the smut factor in them, yet the book isn’t completely about that. There is more to this book than just the amazing smutty scenes in it, you get to follow along as the characters grow with each other, and realize that they aren’t broken.
I would completely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great Christmas read!

HASH(0x9b5669d8) out of 5 stars All she wanted for Christmas was what her two best friends had... Dec 5 2015

Heartwarming and hilarious Christmas story!! You'll laugh, cry, svc wish you could be Millie a few days before Christmas... A Passion in Paradise, Men of the McKinnon Sisters, novella which can be read standalone. And now a bit about the story...

Grumpy Dr. Mackenzie Daniels doesn't knew what he is going to do... he is falling for the hot nurse he hired and already loves her little girl. Millie isn't sure how to get the grumpy doctor to enjoy the holidays. When he turns down all the invites he gets for Christmas dinner, she decides to call in reinforcements -- his mom and sister. Unlike the grumpy cat though, these ladies may all be able to get Mack smile ;)

Favorite passages:
- “Oh, Mackie Poo, not everybody wishes they could be the sole inhabitant of their own planet.”
- Damn, but the man looked like a tall drink of water on a hot summer’s day. Unfortunately, she knew that a single sip of that water would probably send her headlong into the local ER with a bad case of cholera or something equally hideous.
- “Listen, lady,” he said, addressing Ms. Simmons, “I’ve been a doctor for a long time, and never once have I heard a vagina say meow!”
- “Silly, that’s ‘cause the elves are still makin’ toys. Ev’rybody knows this is the elveseses busiest time of year. Were you ever a kid, Dr. Mack? Didn’t anybody ever ‘splain the rules to you?”
