In the 3 years I have had it, I haven't had another power failure to really test how well it works under the conditions for which I purchased it. If I were superstitious, I'd say having a backup emergency generator on hand prevents outages! For me, the peace of mind it gives me is worth the price. I can't compare it with other comparable brands. It seems to work fine and the price is competitive.
I keep 2 five gallon gas cans stored in my shed with conditioner in the gas to make it last. Every 6 months, I put in a little gas and run the generator until it is out of gas. I then put the old gas in my car and buy new gas. It takes ten or so pulls of the starter rope to get it going. This routine takes about an hour, but it keeps my gas fresh and the generator limbered up.
Maybe I will never have to give it a tough extended use test, but the generator is worth a lot to me to have the peace of mind that I can get through an emergency if necessary. I understand that the inverter feature is worthwhile because it conserves fuel and protects devices that are plugged in. I have decided to have a manual transfer switch installed ($400) so that the generator will be able to power my gas furnace's fan in the event of a cold weather emergency. For other appliances (refrigerator, fans, electronics) I will just run extension cords around the house.
On the whole, for me, a good purchase.
lots of vibration would not recommend anyone unless its the only one you can get.
