HASH(0xa5c32420) out of 5 stars LOVED.THIS.BOOK!! Nov. 16 2014

"When someone you love, someone you’d lay your life down for, gets lost in the dark, you follow them. Maybe you can’t be the light they need. Maybe you don’t even need the light. And maybe, just maybe, it’s enough to just be there in the darkness. Together.”

I.Loved.This.Book! Sydney Lane has life wisdom that comes shining through in her writing... it just speaks to me. I highlighted so many wonderful passages in this book. I am not a huge fan of New Adult Romance but this author does it right and does it well. Bravo!
This is book #3 in this series... Declan's story. It can be read as a stand alone but you will understand Declan's story better if you read book one... Choices. Choices was one of my top favorite reads last year so I highly recommend starting there. Somehow I missed book two of this series... the author said it was okay to go ahead with this one even though I hadn't read book two... and she was right. I will be stepping back to read the second book though... I love the way this lady writes!
Hope is such a perfect title for this book... both Eliza and Declan have been hurt, betrayed and damaged. What they find in each other is that little spark of hope that gives them strength and courage to face their past demons, embrace change and look towards the future.
This book took me back to my college years and reminded me of those horrible feelings of rejection experienced when the one person you want most doesn't want you back. Anyone remember that??
This series focuses heavily on the emotions felt when we have to face the consequences of our choices. Sometimes we make bad choices and are forced to learn from them so we can make better ones in the future. I love the message... and, it's feelings that I think all of us have and will experience at some point in our lives. But, bad choices do not have do define us forever and as long as we have hope, change and a better future awaits us.

A few more of my favorite passages from the book...

It's in feeling pain that we truly learn to move forward. When we learn to use that pain, we learn and grow and succeed. We use the pain of the past to pave the way for a better future. And in that, we learn to let go.

The one thing I'm learning is that if you hate something, only you can change it. Sometimes happiness is about choosing it. Doesn't mean I can erase the past... just that I can close the door on things that cannot be changed.

If you love to read books that are laced with words of wisdom then this is such a good series to pick up... I just can't say enough about it... and, it is also quite steamy. I love the nice boy with the naughty side that entailed Declan. I really did fall in love with his character. Can I order one just like him for one of my daughters?? Yes, I'd like that...

Hope is a Choices novel and is the continuing story of Declan, Quincy and Brody by Sydney Lane.

Sydney Lane has a way of ripping your heart out and then putting it back together piece by piece. What do you do when the one girl you thought you loved, chooses someone else? Was she really the one for you or did she just need someone to listen and be a friend? It's been six months since Quincy made her choice and Declan has to live with the fact that it wasn't him.

Feeling betrayed by his friend and fraternity brother, Declan is tired of being the nice guy, he wants to know what it would feel like to be the bad boy and meeting Liza might just be his chance to be bad. However, Liza has her demons and secrets she hides behind. She's broken and Declan is a fixer, but will she open up and give Declan a chance to show her that there is hope out there, and you don't have to deal with things on your own.

What do you do when someone you should have been able to look up to steals your innocence from you? Well for Liza she drowns out memories by having drunken one night stands, until she meets the boy who makes her want to be good.

Declan and Liza start their journey of learning to let go, learning that to love someone else you have to love yourself. Declan is so sweet and understanding of Liza and what she needs to overcome before he can truly tell her how he feels, he just hopes she feels the same.

Sydney touches on a subject matter in which no woman should have to deal with. In addition, in a way that gives us hope that one can overcome anything with the love and support of family and friends.

I absolutely loved this story, I fell in love with the characters and I'm looking forward to reading Seth's book. I give this book an Amazing 5 stars and highly recommend that you pick this one up today. You will not be disappointed!!

Finally!!! I have been waiting for Declan’s story. As much as I love a bad boy like Brody, I also fell hard for Declan and his giving, patient, and heartwarming ways. My heart was broken for him in Choices, so naturally I needed to see him get his HEA. And that HEA comes in the form of a red boots and red lipstick wearing girl with a few issues….Yikes!!!

“It’s like a train wreck. I don’t want to watch, but I can’t help myself.”

So, I got nervous as I was starting this story. I couldn’t handle seeing Declan get his heart broken twice and I had my fingers crossed that the author wasn’t going to do that to me. But, I was pleasantly surprised by where this story took me. Don’t get me wrong, it was hard to be in his head at times, and hear how he felt about Quincy, but I had no clue Declan White had another side to him. One that I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed ;) It made this bad boy addict a little giddy to know he could break out of that polo shirt every once in a while, and enjoy himself.

“Naughty? Oh, I love that word coming from his mouth.”

Then Eliza (AKA Liza), I liked her. She made some bad calls and I didn’t totally agree with how she handled some things, but for the most part she was good to Declan. As good as she could be considering her circumstances. The progression of their relationship, if that’s the correct word for it) shocked me. When I thought of Declan’s story, I thought of all the sweet things, such as flowers and romantic dates. But, it wasn’t like that and yet I think I loved it even more. Love is work and these two proved they had what it takes to fight for it.

“Sometimes, forgiving is something you do for yourself. Forgiveness sets you free.”

So, as you can see, I really enjoyed this continuation of the Choices series. And I am very hopeful that we can get Seth’s story very soon!!! I am anxious to see what is going on with Seth, and I felt like Hope sorta started his story, and there will be more to come soon. 

“I let her go. Hell, I practically told her to go to him. So, why does it feel like someone kicked me in the stomach every time I see them together? Every. Damn. Time.” –Declan

“He wants something he can’t have. Well, welcome to my world. Where things don’t come easy and dreams don’t come true. Where somebody else is in charge and the boogie man is real. I should know. I’ve met him.” –Liza

When I started this story, I had no expectations. I had read the other books and fell in love with each character; watching them grow and change as the series has progressed. I wondered when Declan would have his say…and I am so glad it has come! I think this may have been my favorite book so far.

Declan is the good guy. And you know the saying, “nice guys finish last”? Well, I think it’s more like “save the best for last”. I couldn’t have imagined anyone better for Declan than Liza…and the way they challenge and change one another is just beautiful. Let me tell you a little about the story (don’t worry, no spoilers)…

Declan is still raw from losing the one girl he thought he loved.

Liza is running. Running from her past, running from her present, and running straight through her future. Using her body as a way to numb the pain of all she has lost.

When the two collide, it’s more than just fireworks. He finds that love has many layers and she learns that sometimes it’s better to run to instead of from…problem is, can they make it work when there is so many reasons stacked against them why it shouldn’t?

“When someone you love, someone you’d lay your life down for, gets lost in the dark, you follow them. Maybe you can’t be the light they need. Maybe you don’t even need the light. And maybe, just maybe, it’s enough to just be there in the darkness.”

"If I have learned anything, it's that you can't make someone feel the way you do. It's meant to be or it isn't. Part of loving somebody is about making sure they're ready. Ready for what you want. Ready to receive your love. Ready to love you in turn. The other part of loving someone is that you are faithful. You will wait for them, give them time. You will give them everything, even when they can't offer anything. Something for nothing. ~Declan.

In the first two choices books we have watched Declan support his friends and frat brothers unconditionally. Even when that meant that he lost the girl that he thought that he loved. In Hope, we meet back up with this group of friends, and Declan is still trying to come to terms with the fact that Quincey is with Brody and she is trying to give him the space that is needed for him to copy with the things that have taken place. Declan is trying to figure out where and who he is and why the "good" guys always seem to finish last.

Eliza is the newby of the group, just starting her freshman year at UT. She is lucky enough to end up as a roommate with Corrine, which in turn places her and Delcan in each others paths quiet often. The feelings that seem to pass between the two are hard to figure out and they are both unsure as to how to react to the Choices before them.

If there is a series that allows you to go back and remember how you were during your early adult years, this has to be it. Sydney Lane does a fantastic job of writing about the Choices that can change your life in the blink of an eye. She does a wonderful job of approaching the topics of drinking, sex, drugs, suicide, heartbreak, love, and even abuse. She writes all these into her stories and shows us how her characters chose to deal with the issues that enter their paths. It reminds me of the poem the road not taken, where we often wonder what if we would have chosen a different path. This is the way that her stories will leave you thinking. Now, don't get the wrong idea, these are beautifully written stories that will leave you emotionally charged and even feeling good about life as well.

I think that HOPE, is the best title that she could have given this book, because you can see how Declan lives by this one single word. Again in a way it gives us that reflection on how we can look at our personal day to day lives and how with out HOPE, what do we really have to help get us through those tough and trying times, other than faith. I think that the insight that Sydney Lane gives us through her stories is great, and if you actually stop and think about what she is conveying through her stories you will not only finish the book, but you will finish it with a brighter outlook and that all true feeling of HOPE. My only sorrow is that I do not want to have to leave this group behind. I would love to see how Seth's story plays out and see how he handles the demons that seem to all but swallow him whole a points. Again though... when he is needed Declan seems to be there.

I hope that you as a reader will enjoy this book as much as I have.

"Because I can hope it gets better someday. Easier." " That's just the thing. It can only get better if you let go of your pain. It's your choice." ~ Eliza and Quincey.
