About the Author

Jean-Paul Colleyn, né en 1949, est anthropologue et cinéaste. Il est directeur du Centre d'études africaines et directeur d'études à l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. Il a également enseigné à New York University. Il est l'auteur-réalisateur d'une trentaine de films documentaires, de nombreux livres et articles consacrés à l'anthropologie, au Mali (où il mène des recherches de terrain depuis 1972), au cinéma documentaire et à l'art. Quelques titres de films : "Les Chemins de Nya", "Chronique d'une saison sèche (3 films)", "Vivre avec les dieux (3 films)", "La nuit des Indiens Pumé", "La baraka des marchands mourides".
