There's no middle ground with this movie - you love it or hate it. When the movie begins, we are watching the beginning of "Dr. Wolfenstein's Creature Feature Show." It's a show that characters in the movie would be watching if they had their television tuned to that channel. Then Wolfenstein's show cuts to a commercial break, and we see the commercial for "The Museum of Monsters and Madmen." The museum's owner is a strange clown named Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig). After Spaulding's commercial ends, the movie cuts to the neon sign outside of Spaulding's museum/gas station. This is when the storyline for House of 1000 Corpses begins. Inside, Spaulding is chatting with a friend. The rather disgusting conversation involves a Dr. Zaius action figure and sodomy. Then two would-be robbers show up. After taunting one robber, Spaulding takes them out, then inhales the fumes from his recently fired revolver. Then he steps on the last guy with his huge clown shoe and finishes him off. Then the opening credits roll, and we are serenaded by the awesome Rob Zombie heavy metal song called "House of 1000 Corpses". And during the opening credits we get to see lots of film clips of all sorts of things, ranging from a sunset to a guy's mouth being prodded by a dentist. The sequence for the opening credits pleasantly reminds me of various White Zombie and Rob Zombie music videos.

And what would this movie be without a group of youngsters who are little more than lambs being led to the slaughter? I imagine it's hard for anyone to empathize with these four youngsters. Bill (Rainn Wilson) is INCREDIBLY ANNOYING. Jerry (Chris Hardwick) may be funny at times, but he's also absurdly childish. Bill's girlfriend Mary (Jennifer Jostyn) and Jerry's girlfriend Denise (Erin Daniels) certainly aren't friendly people.

First off I'm not going to waste your time by telling you about the entire movie. If you're here then you've probably seen it and if not you don't want me to ruin it for you. This movie is cut-and-dry madness and I love it. What else would you expect from the Master of Mayhem(Rob Zombie)? If you are in to "real" horror movies then this is a must have to compliment your collection, if you're looking for something like "Scream" or "I Know What You Did Last Summer" then move along and forget you ever heard of this movie. If you watched it you would probably have to be commited shortly after. This is not "Nightmare on Elm Street" or "Friday the 13th" either, it's more like watching an unedited documentary on Ed Gein, the Manson Family, or a band of cannibals. However, if you know what you are getting yourself into and can wrap your mind around this movie enough to realize that it could and probably has or is happening somewhere in this country in real life then you will find it hilariously horror-filled. Bravo Mr. Zombie, I only hope that a Director's Cut version will be released so that I can see what they made you cut to obtain that R-rating(which, by the way, is not due to alot of nudity like most horror movies). [PS-I also recommend Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation]

Whether this movie is your favourite or the worst film you ever saw...one thing no one can disagree with is that House of 1000 Corpses is extremely riveting. I didn't take my eyes off the movie even once. Sometimes the filming was shaky and you weren't sure what you're focusing on but that just made it all the more disturbing. I loved this movie as i'm very much into gore and fear especially when the kids in this movie were asking for it in their determination to see Dr. Satan and solve the great dead woods mystery. A fine way to spend a rainy night in a town you're not familiar with and picking up crazy Baby posed as a helpless female hitchhiker who eventually treats them to their worst dreams possible realized. Is it safe to say they regretted crossing paths with this hot blonde and her maniacal laugh? I think so! You can't forget all the other odd ball characters that Rob Zombie introduces either in the Firefly household. Everyone has their quirk and their distinctive physical appearances but the one thing they all share in common is they have no scruples and they're all driven to murder for the fun of it. This movie is visually stimulating and it certainly caters to most people's fears and nightmares. A definite Creature Feature! Buy this movie and sleep tight boys and girls for your introduction to the Murder Ride!

is what i would call this page if i had to come up with a not-so-clever title. i suppose i understand some people's dissappointment with this movie. "horror fans" want a "scary" movie, which i guess means a movie that has situations of suspense in hopes of finally startling the viewer and maybe raise their heartrate a little. the first time i saw this movie, i was very impressed. was i afraid? no. was i ENTERTAINED? YES! i watch movies to be entertained, and i found a lot of entertaining stuff in this film. first, horror movies are crap for the most part. it is, i feel, the most bastardized and played out genre there is. no matter how many comedies are released, there are still funny movies yet to come. so why, in one of the smallest genres(horror), has hollywood run out of ideas? "sequel" is the most sacred and hated word in the horror genre. rob zombie gave us something new that is a cut above the normal horrible, boring horror movie. off the top of my head i can think of 3 reasons why house is very cool. 1. the music. i don't care for zombie's music, i never have. its a little too boring and well-known, but i have no doubt that he has good taste in other music. zombie picked some dynamite songs to include(ramones, slim whitman, buck owens) and did some decent original sounds and tunes as well. GOOD MUSIC IN HORROR MOVIES IS NON-EXISTANT! its poor background rehashes used in everything from leprechaun to jason vs. freddy. also, the performance baby gives during "SHOWTIME" is great. 2. the writing and dialogue. another major part of the film equation that horror movies go ahead and leave out. nothing remotely funny or cool is ever said in a horror movie.Read more ›
