I read the book “How to Work with Teams” in two short sittings. I was interested in it from my point of view of being a now retired senior, but one that has worked with countless different teams during my lifetime. Now my teamwork tends to be more with senior volunteer groups and not-for-profits. Of course, the primary team that I have been/still am an active participant of is the family.
Until I got to chapter 4, I was not very engaged. After that I was engrossed. I could see myself in the descriptions of the various quadrant types. Everyone has some of each type in their personality but for me, I could certainly see myself being described very well.
I think using the pop culture comparison of the cast of “Friends” was useful and very meaningful. I was, after all, a big fan of the show when it first aired and even today, when I visit my dentist, the reruns are playing overhead as she cleans my teeth.
I envision using this book to help me be more effective in my various community roles. Being a “P” personality type, I will be more conscious to tone it down so that I am not thought of as Bossy Barb.
