The movie was weak and slow and with this final part, Mockingjay seemed to have been unnecessarily and unsuccessfully stretched to two parts to milk as much $ out of the films as possible. In doing so however, a proper narrative was sacrificed for the most part. Katniss, who is supposed to be driven by the conclusion that Snow must be eliminated, seemed mostly flat and uninvolved. The love triangle is finally resolved in a sort of odd, bleak, lifeless, white picket fence manner.

They took the worst book in the trilogy and made it into two movies when the subject matter only had enough material for one 90 minute movie. Don't get me wrong, I loved the trilogy but I sat through this movie wishing it would end because it was so dull. Nothing happens, no big battle at the end, nothing. Watch the 'Honest Trailer' about this movie on You Tube and you'll have a much more satisfying experience.

The film picks up where the other one leaves off. Again, there is no recap. This film answers the questions we had at the end of the last film. "What will happen to Peeta (Josh Hutcherson)? And more important, Who will Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) end up with, because this is also a love story. It isn't long before the Mockingjay "goes rogue" as the film pays homage to Orwell if I recall by high school book reports. What is important in this film is that the end does not leave you hanging, you have closure.

I enjoyed the film as Katniss spouted out memorable lines as all civilian killing is personal. They are our family. Philip Seymour Hoffman died while making this film. His role was reduced to a few head shots and limit lines. I heard they were going to use CG to create his character. If they did, I couldn't tell. Good final film.

Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

Part 1 was terrific in how much of a character study it was and how it set up Part 2. The end of Part 1 was EXCITING. Instead of picking up that frenetic energy Part 1 ended on, this part simply retreats and goes back to the monotonous gloom and doom of the previous. When it finally should pick up and get exciting, it... umm, kinda does.

I didn't hate this movie, but I sure didn't love it. It takes so long for it to pick up an interesting momentum, that I was nearly indifferent when it finally did. It's none of the actors faults as they're all good. Katniss' crying gets super old, but Jennifer is still her stellar self. It still has a few great scenes, but it feels uneven and tired of itself. The ending just feels rushed, as certain characters spout quick uncharacteristic lines & then disappear uneventfully. Thankfully, the strongest scenes are between Jennifer & Josh, as they should be.

When the credits finally rolled, I was thinking about what I was going to do next instead of what a great series it was. 3 out of 4 isn't bad though.

Following on the heals of the first three movies the plot is weak and predictable. The absence of Philip Seymour Hoffman as the link that paired Hunger Games experiences with the new hope of overthrowing Snow may have lead to the lop-sided presentation. The action scenes were not well anchored into the course of events. I was glad I saw it as it completed the series but if you aren't a fan this would have been doubly disappointing.

The movie itself was good, our only dissapointment was the audio. On our television the dialogue was way too low, spoilt the whole movie. Could not here the trailers at all even at full volume. Would have given it five stars but for the poor audio. I think we would have been better off with a non blur ray disc and saved some money.
