It was hard finding a thermal solution for my super micro dual xeon board and these were the best reviewed with the least amount of hassle. In bios and under heavy load these things scream, like loud enough for the people sleeping upstairs to gear them clearly. With that said my dual xeon system hardly ever reaches that point unless in bios for extended periods and these things do a good job at keeping the chips cool.

(Intel Thermal Solution Processor Cooler)

- Keeps Xeon chips running cool
- Works in 2U servers

- None.

- Any one complaining about noise isn't use to working in a server room. Don't build a 2U server for home or a quite office. These fans / heat sinks are for servers and servers need to say cool. Servers run 24/7 and are accessed by many users, so they need to stay cool, and the only way that's going to happen is to move tons of air across heated surfaces. That means spinning up those fans till they scream!

One way around this is to use a 4U rack case, and a much bigger heat link with a much bigger fan. That allows for slower RPMs thus less noise.

This fits perfectly on my Rampage Extreme motherboard and is the easiest install of all heat sinks that I have ever bought. the thing that has me upset is that this thing sounds like a jet plane taking off. The noise is awful . I don't think that I'm going to keep it as no one in my household can stand it. I'm trying to find a way to silence it before deciding to return it. Looks like I'm going to have to spend twice as much for a Noctua, it looks like It may fit just as well on my 1366 board.

Well, It is exactly what it is intended for, an Intel LGA 1366 CPU Socket. Fits perfectly on the Supermicro X8DTN+ motherboard.

It works fine but is really loud. My old cooler was MUCH quieter than this one
