The New York Times bestselling INSIDE OUT series now in development for TV with acclaimed producer, Suzanne Todd!

How It All Started...

One day I was a high school teacher on summer break, leading a relatively uneventful but happy life. Or so I told myself. Later, I'd question that, as I would question pretty much everything I knew about me, my relationships, and my desires. It all began when my neighbor thrust a key to a storage unit at me. She'd bought it to make extra money after watching some storage auction show. Now she was on her way to the airport to elope with a man she barely knew, and she needed me to clear out the unit before the lease expired.

Soon, I was standing inside a small room that held the intimate details of another woman's life, feeling uncomfortable, as if I was invading her privacy. Why had she let these items so neatly packed, possessions that she clearly cared about deeply, be lost at an auction? Driven to find out by some unnamed force, I began to dig, to discover this woman's life, and yes, read her journals--dark, erotic journals that I had no business reading. Once I started, I couldn't stop. I read on obsessively, living out fantasies through her words that I'd never dare experience on my own, compelled by the three men in her life, none of whom had names. I read onward until the last terrifying dark entry left me certain that something had happened to this woman. I had to find her and be sure she was okay.

Before long, I was taking her job for the summer at the art gallery, living her life, and she was nowhere to be found. I was becoming someone I didn't know. I was becoming her.

The dark, passion it becomes...

Now, I am working at a prestigious gallery, where I have always dreamed of being, and I've been delivered to the doorstep of several men, all of which I envision as one I've read about in the journal. But there is one man that will call to me, that will awaken me in ways I never believed possible. That man is the ruggedly sexy artist, Chris Merit, who wants to paint me. He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn't find intriguing, but I do. I so do. I don't understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away. He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him.

All I know for certain is that he knows me like I don't even know me, and he says I know him. Still, I keep asking myself -- do I know him? Did he know her, the journal writer, and where is she? And why doesn't it seem to matter anymore? There is just him and me, and the burn for more.

when I finished this book last night and my reaction was ...
WHAT?
WAIT?
Are pages missing?
There has to be more ... right?
You can't leave a girl hanging .... ooooooh I need the next book!

I mean all this is the BEST possible way ... I really enjoyed the book!
Nothing like 50 shades of Grey ... BETTER! Way better!
I love the characters, I love the story line, I love how they mix together

Sara is a schoolteacher but her real passion is art, she is a good girl who is running from her past!
Chris is an artist, one Sara has always admired, he's a bad boy with a dark side and a past he is trying to keep a secret ...
They end up on a hot and steamy journey of discovery ... of each other and themselves!
and then there is Mark.
He owns the art gallery where Rebecca worked and where Sara is now working for the summer ... He's dark, mysterious and in control ... In this book we don't learn a lot about him but he certainly plays a role in this story. What does he see in Sara, what does he want with Sara, where is this going with Sara?

I would definitely recommend this book and author Lisa Renee Jones!

Four Stars

*I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.*

Sara McMillan is a high school teacher, who aches to work in the art industry, but because of what it pays, she's never been able to. One day, she finds a journal in her apartment that captures her attention, makes her yearn to read more, know more. It was left behind by her neighbor, whom she assumes has written it. She can't believe her roommate would write such about experiencing such sensual and erotic moments. She finds out that it is not written by her neighbor, but a woman who left a handful of them along with a entire storage unit behind and disappeared. Determined to find the woman and return her belongings because that's what she would want, Sarah finds herself in a whole world she never thought she would be in. The art world isn't what she hoped it would be. Instead her boss is extremely controlling, demanding man who makes her uneasy and doesn't want her on the sales floor even though she's already proven that she not only knows her stuff, but can make a high priced sale. Another man enters her life at the same time that is completely the opposite of her boss, his easy smile and talented hands keep her mind occupied every second of the day. Both men seem to be at odds with each other and she is unsure of which she can trust, if either.

This was a captivating book. I wanted to know where it was going and what was going to happen. While I absolutely adored Chris and WHEW when things heat up between them (think 50% through the book when it first happens) it's H-O-T, I also found Mark to be extremely sexy too. I felt for Sara and her adventures as she fights to figure out what happened to Rebecca.

This was only a four star read for me though.

If I Were You

Lisa Renee Jones

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

Sara McMillan’s best friend Ella is a storage locker junkie, she buys the contents and then sell them hoping to make a profit. It is in one such locker that she comes across a collection of personal journals, erotic in their writing. When Sara reads them she is immediately drawn to them and sets out to return them to their rightful owner.

This leads her to the Gallery and gallery owner Mark Campbell who offers her a summer job. Now Mark is a little demanding, a little controlling and a lot domineering. He makes her take a multitude of tests and do a load of studying for this position. He has hopes that it can lead into something more permanent.

One of the authors that she gets to know is Chris Merit, a quiet and shy fellow who nobody really gets close too. Except for her, she gets really really close to him, up against the window overlooking the city naked close. He also has a very dominating personality and right now he wants to dominate her. Now a guy that takes control has always been a fantasy of Sara’s so she quickly and willingly steps into the role required of her.

With her heart set on Chris and the back of her mind still trying to find out what happened to the mysterious journal writer Rebecca, Sara sets out on asexual adventure complete with personal
wine tasting instructions.

The thing about keeping secrets is they can come back to haunt you, the thing about seial stories is cliffhangers and unanswered questions. I eagerly wait the next segment in the story.

"Be warned, Sara. I'm no saint. If I take you upstairs, I'm going to strip you naked and f*** you the way I've wanted to since the moment we first met."

Sara McMillan is a 28 year old High School teacher that had to give up her dream of working in the Art world because "life, bills and responsibilities took precedence." Sara's friend and coworker, Ella Ferguson, unexpectantly elopes to Paris with her doctor boyfriend and leaves Sara with a storage locker she purchased. Sara is uncomfortable going through someone else's personal belongings and wants to return everything to its owner, Rebecca, but doesn't know where to begin.

Sara reads Rebecca's journals hoping to find clues as to where she might be but soon becomes obsessed with them. She believes that Rebecca has been drawn into a dark world and that she may be in danger, if she is still alive. Sara finds herself stepping into Rebecca's life. It is summer break from school so she decides to take Rebecca's job at an art gallery to see what information she can uncover. She is suddenly in a world where she is not sure exactly who she can trust or if she can trust anyone at all but she is intent on finding out the truth about what really happened to Rebecca.

But with any great story, there are twists and turns and HOT sex!

Sara meets Chris Merit, an artist who is rich, famous and successful. He is attracted to Sara from the first moment they meet in the gallery. She thinks they have more in common that either wants to admit. Both are damaged from their past but she is falling in love with him. Chris tells her that he isn't looking for a happily ever after but he can't stay away from Sara and they have a chemistry that is HOT! Chris has a dark side and has secrets that he prefers to leave in the past.
