In just twenty-seven short years, Alexa Sullivan Tate has already lost the two great loves of her life. One to the Army; the other in a tragic car accident. Two years after the latter, a ghost from the past reappears, igniting feelings in Alexa she’d thought long dormant.

Jace McAllister has spent the last ten years in the Army, defusing bomb after bomb, trying to forget the girl who once set his world on fire. For him, she’s always been the one who got away. After a not-so-chance encounter places her back in his line of sight, he’s locked eyes on target, and won’t let her go without a fight.

Ten years ago their chemistry smoldered, and now the sparks threaten to light a fuse leading to an explosion between them even Jace can’t control. Not that he wants to. But when love has slipped through your fingertips before, how can you trust it will once again remain?

Will Alexa’s fear of love and loss destroy their second chance at a beautiful future before it can even begin?

Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Lexi and Jace have a history. They were once a couple, ten years ago, when Jace broke Lexi's heart. Evenso, Jace never stopped loving Lexi, who went on to fall in love and marry.

After losing her husband and falling into a depression, Lexi is coaxed by her sister to come to a reunion with her where she bumps guessed it, Jace. And their connection is reestablished. Jace is over the moon to have another opportunity to get close to Lexi, but Lexi is not quite over the death of her husband, but not necessarily for the obvious reasons.

It takes her a while to trust enough to open up about her guilt, her fears and her feelings and it is almost too late...

Can I just say Jace is an absolute dream?? Such focus on Lexi.... I could only wish for that kind of devotion directed at me....... *sigh*

Perfect blend of sad, sweet and spicy!!

Ignite is the story of Jace and Lexi and I loved every minute of it. Lexi is a young widow who is set up with her high school crush during a reunion weekend. I loved that the author did not rush Lexi from losing her husband into a new relationship with Jace. The grief process is difficult and it drives me crazy when authors just have the character jump from one relationship into another. When reading this you really felt Lexi's hesitance, conflicted feelings and the guilt that's associated with moving on after you've lost someone you love. It was so well done I actually emailed the author to let her know how I felt about the way she handled this issue. Jace was so understanding and supportive of her and really was an awesome guy supporting her through the whole process. The entire book takes place over the span of a year or more (we meet Lexi a year after her husband's death) and it adds credibility to the growth of their relationship.

Of course Jace is hot and Lexi is gorgeous and the sexiness is sexy and that's great too. But I loved the relationship development as it felt so true to life to me. As characters they were funny and sensitive and confused and complex, just like regular people. I'd love to grab my husband and take in a baseball game with them and have a few beers. Definitely worth the read :)

HASH(0x9edcca8c) out of 5 stars 3 stars - sweet romance; sexy hero; got a bit repetitive Dec 8 2013

Alexa Sullivan has return to her home town after 10 years for a big high school reunion. It is not Alexa's reunion-her older sister has asked her to come along to babysit her child while she attends the reunion. Alexa's husband passed away and she is still feeling lost and depressed and is willing to experience a change of scenery for awhile.

Alexa is surprised to find out that her old high school best friend and love of her life is also going to be in attendance at the reunion, Jace McAllister. Alexa and Jace were BFF's in high school and had lots of chemistry, but little opportunity.

This book is about reuniting the two high school 'almost' sweethearts and how they bring their relationship from estranged friends, to loving couple.

Jace is travels to Afghanistan a lot on tours because he is a defuses bombs for the military. He joined right after high school and has been with the military since then. So Alexa and Jace have to work out details of their past and how they can work out their future since he works in such a dangerous job, that also take him away for long periods of time.

This book has it's HEA with no cliffhanger. It also has A LOT of sex scenes.

What did I like about this book?
- The characters seem like they truly love each other (or at least have a ton of chemistry)and you want to see them together. It's nice to see them happy at the end. So happy - cut ending.
- There isn't the silly and long dragged out misunderstanding, nor huge angst (some, but not huge), no super evil villains, no crazy plot twists that make you want to scream
- HEA, no cliffhanger, no series that i had to read in order
- Steamy sex scenes
- AVA AVA AVA - the daughter...laughed out loud, she is so friggin' funny. Want to adopt her, now
- Funny and sassy BFF, Brady
- Easy to read, not too heavy

What I didn't like?
- Jace struck me as a bit 'weak'. The guy diffuses bombs for a living, but seems to cop out of pursuing Alexa a lot. He decides to wait and give her space quite a bit (mainly early on in the book). He looks a bit tentative. Not what I'd expect from military stud.
- Sex scenes - can't believe am saying this, but there were too many. Some hot monkey sex is good - too much got me a little bored.
- Repetitive conversations b/w characters of how much they mean to each other - how much they need each other - how much they mean to each other - how much they need each other - (repeat). I understand that they had a long absence, but can we move on and talk about other things? Can Alexa be the one he leans on when he realizes that he is having bad nightmares from his numerous tours of Afghanistan? (actually , in the book, he doesn't have one nightmare. She has more than he does). These super horny characters drained on me - needed a bit more depth to their conversations. More about their lives. Let's make them 3dimensional.

The story was compelling that was why I bought the book. Ultimately, I found the writing to be too repetitive and written with minute detail which really was not necessary. Detail about every movement and every word of conversation I did not care to know and left nothing to the imagination. So much so that the weekend reunion felt like a month. The main character’s sister was annoying and cringe-worthy. Spoiler: Really do you talk out loud about how many times you “did it” on a plane!

HASH(0x9ea262b8) out of 5 stars a slow and saccharine read Feb. 23 2014

I ended up having to speed read Ignite because I found it to be a very boring and predictable read. The characters were underdeveloped, and the dialogue was completely unbelievable.

Jase is a too-good-to-be-true hero (frankly emasculating him as a result) who folds into all cliches including singing while he slow dances with his girlfriend on the beach, to social media stalking her over the years, to daydreaming when Lexi is tucking in her niece that he was playing imaginary family with the three of them, to his looking forward to taking Lexi to his class reunion so he can dance with her. Really?! This is a bomb diffusing career military man. He did not speak as one, and gushed like a teenage girl for most of the book.

Ignite manages to pack in just about every romance book cliche including lines like "I won't bite. Until you ask me to." to "Like what you see?" There are endless sappy letters and droning conversations about love and longing between the hero and heroine. Beyond the dialogue being full of cliches and dragging on, Jace and Lexi are written in a very wholesome and juvenile way. I also found it perplexing how Lexi's 52 year old parents are written as if they are 72.

I wish I had my time back that I sank into this book.

HASH(0x9f715558) out of 5 stars Ignite: 5 Explosive Stars, Love Love! best debut book Oct. 29 2013

*ARC provided from author in exchange for honest review.*

This book was truly a joy to read. It had me squealing with laughter, awing at the sweet and loving moments, brought tears to my eyes and of course had me yearning for more.It was beautifully well written that will capture and tug all the right amount of emotions in your heart.

Ignite is the first book of the series, Explosive, that centers on the life of Alexa Sullivan Tate and Jace McAllister. This beautiful story was about friendship, first love, heartache, loss, love found, second chances, life, forgiveness and acceptance. Can the heart withstand so much pain and heartbreak before getting pieced back together? When is the right time to move on? Can love be found a second time around?

Alexa Sullivan Tate, is left a widow at young age of 26. Her late husband, Ty, suffered and died instantly at a tragic car accident leaving Alexa's world completely shattered. A part of her life also died the day when Ty was taken away from her. The loss completely devastated her. She lost the man whom she loved so dearly and the future they were going to build.

Jace McAllister, is 28 years old working and serving the US Army. He fought and survived war overseas but could never stay in a committed relationship because he would always compare them to the girl that stole his heart in high school. For him, Alexa Sullivan was the "one."

All through high school, Alexa was secretly in love with her best friend, Jace, the all-star baseball player. On the night of Jace's graduation, he reveals his true feelings for Alexa before he leaves for the Army the following day. Circumstances and misunderstanding keeps them apart for 10 years. Alexa finds love again with Ty and is married to him for about 8 years. While she is still reeling from her tragic loss, she tries to put back pieces and semblance of her life with the help of her family and friends. Her sister, Sierra invites her to go with her to her high school reunion. After 10 years, the feelings that Jace and Alexa once shared ignites. Their sexual chemistry, feelings and love are palpable.

What I love about this book was that Jace and Alexa's story was well paced and their love for each other was evoked in every action and words. Jace was the total package. He was sweet, loving, understanding, and patient. I never felt he rushed Alexa into their relationship. For him to understand and accept Alexa's love for Ty truly testifies what a great man he is. As for Alexa, I adored her for her strength, acceptance and love. I especially loved that they were able to keep and maintained a long distance relationship while he was overseas and of course I LOVE LOVE they exchanged handwritten letters. There is nothing like a handwritten letter.

Tessa did a fabulous job in writing Jace and Alexa's relationship. She was able to incorporate wit, humor, laughter, love, friendship, romance, and acceptance all in this book. The secondary characters were simply refreshing. I loved each and everyone of them: Brady, Sierra, Jeremy, Knox, and of course my favorite, Ava. What I also love about this book, it was able to incorporate references of pop culture and introduced us to the new term of "blue clit master." I highly recommend everyone to pick up and read this book because it reminds us all that life is full of second chances and new beginnings whether its moving on or loving again.

HASH(0x9e96cdb0) out of 5 stars A Heartbreaking & Ultimately Uplifting Story of Love & 2nd Chances Oct. 30 2013
By Amy @ The Reading Realm - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
From the very beginning I knew this was going to play with my heart and oh boy was I right. The prologue alone made me cry, with such a tragic and heartbreaking scene, and it didn't stop there. There was plenty of crying and not just a few stray tears but that awful hot-ball-of-lava-in-your-throat type of crying.

After loosing her husband Ty is a car accident Alexa struggles to move on with her life. Her sister Sierra is there for her as is her new friend from work, Brady (who I adored!). They both encourage her to attend the high school reunion and meet up with her old best friend and first love Jace. Alexa is very hesitant at first, worried that it will awkward to see him after he broke eyer heart 10 years ago. But their connection is as strong as ever and watching them rekindle their relationship was so beautiful and sometimes quite hilarious. But the question is can their love overcome their past mistakes and Jace's life in the army?

Jace, oh who wouldn't fall in love with that man *sigh*. Yes he's a hot muscly soldier, but he's also so much more. He is sweet and caring and so devoted to Alexa that I just wanted to squeeze his cheeks! (on his face of course! *cough*)

Alexa was such a real character, and after all that she's gone through she's still a very strong character. Like anyone she struggles with her emotions - grief from loosing Ty, happiness and a second chance with Jace and guilt at feeling happy again. I found her so relatable as a character and very likeable.

I have say I was really impressed with how Alexa's husband Ty was represented in the story. He so easily could have been written as a 'bad' character - uncaring, abusive, cold etc. But their love was honest and real, which only made the loss all the more tragic and heartbreaking. Reading some of the flashbacks scenes, broke my heart and made the pain of loosing him more real for me - I could really empathise for feelings of grief.

And there are also lots of great secondary characters with Lexi's hilarious & pushy sister Sierra and her husband Jeremy and of course their adorably hyperactive 4 year old Ava. I am also delighted that the next book in the series will be Jace's mate Knox's story - oh I can't wait to get to know that brooding soldier a little better!

A romance that can survive ten years apart can only be described as epic, and that's exactly what it is. When they first see each other again it's like they've never been apart, the connection is still there and the sexual tension is electric! Seriously, there are some hot & spicy scenes these two share - and I have to say I am positive that Jace is not longer the Blue-Clit-Master (most hilarious scene I have read in a loooong time!!)

Tessa's writing was so full of emotion, it I felt like I was living through this alongside of Alexa and Jace. The feelings of grief, sadness, guilt, love, passion and hope where woven so beautifully into the story - I laughed and cried my way through the entire story.

I also felt the timeline was handled very effectively. After their reunion things don't just happen in a matter of weeks, but over a year, and this made their relationship so much more realistic and believable.

The emotions in this book are so real and tangle, you won't be able to put it down. I felt everything Alexa went through and couldn't stop thinking about her story days after I'd finished reading it. Ignite is a tragic, heartbreaking and ultimately an uplifting story of love and second chances.
