This is such a good book I really enjoyed it. The romance between an older man and a younger girl did not feel uncomfortable as they fitted so well together and were so clearly in love. The story surrounding their relationship and family situations was interesting and complex. This is well worth reading.

I don't just read on my Kindle. I listen to books using the 'text-to-speech' facility (it helps me when I can't go to sleep), and kept me awake more than I wanted.
Not really political, but a decent romance anywaysReviewed in the United States on January 8, 2017
I have mixed feelings about this book. It has an interesting concept with a young heroine and an older hero. There are challenges they face because of their age difference. They have other circumstances they must overcome. I liked the name Arwen and the story behind it. I liked the alternating POVs. Both characters were very well thought out. They seemed like real persons not imagined characters. They had their flaws but both of them developed throughout the story. I liked the writing although the inner turmoil seemed a bit repetitive sometimes. On the political aspect of the story I anticipated a bit more political shenanigans after reading the blurb but other than Ethan working for the European Parliament it wasn't much else. I think the blurb is a bit misleading in this respect and I don't think this makes it a political romance. I liked the epilogue and the closure Arwen got with his father. I liked that the couple got their HEA after going through lot of ordeal. I gave 4 stars for the writing but I missed the deeper political plot mentioned in the blurb. I definitely will read another book of this author.
This story shook me to my core beliefsReviewed in the United States on January 2, 2017
Arwen is a character that many can identify with. Ethan is a urbane well connected person who is not he appears to be. The characters in the story drag you into their world. I know the author wrote this as a standalone but I think each character has the development to have their own story. The plot is believable and almost plucked from the headlines. The setting makes you wish you could visit. I had never been interested in that part of the world but now it's on my travel bucket list. I think you should give this book a chance. I am sure you will enjoy.

Tragic and beautiful...Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2017
Joanna never ceases to amaze me with her soul crushing tales of one's life before finding love. Arwen allowed her past to dictate her future for ten years until she met Ethan. Her strength grew through pain, making her stronger. It's such a beautiful tale of love, loss and closure. I instantly fell in love with the characters and felt drawn to Arwen. Joanna has a way of making her characters come to life with her majestic details, bringing out feelings deeply buried in one's soul. It's simply amazing. I highly recommend reading this book and any other books written by Joanna. You won't be disappointed. Well deserved 5 stars!
