This is my second book now by Ava Harrison and I am becoming a fan of her writing. Illicit was a forbidden teacher/student taboo romance set in a private High School in New York. Carson Blake was a hot, sexy History teacher who crossed the line with student Lynn Adams but before the school year started not knowing their teacher/student identities. Although this transpired into a forbidden, shunned romance it evolved into much more of a story of two lost souls with troubled pasts that helped and healed each other in so many ways. They tried to fight their strong attraction to each other but soon it turned into a tryst that blossomed into a beautiful love story.

I enjoyed this story as it was filled with so many emotions from happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, pain and so much more. There was drama, turmoil and many secrets that made this story interesting and captivating from the start. I liked Carson and Lynn's characters because they seemed so real and had a great connection. Their passion, love and fight for each other made this more into a story of love then a passing fling. They both loved each other, helped each other and fought for each other which was beautiful to see.

Although at times I found the story dragging for a bit, it helped that it was told in dual points of view from both Carson and Lynn as it gave us more of a perspective and insight in their thoughts, feelings and desires for each other other and for themselves.

If you're looking for an exciting student/teacher romance with a few broken characters and a story of second chances at life then this is the perfect read for you!!!

Title: Illicit
Author: Ava Harrison

4 unexpected stars

Never in a million years would i have thought that i could have been as moved as i was when i read Ava Harrison's Illicit. This taboo teacher/student romance novel had my blood pumping and wanting it to keep going even when the last page flipped and had me feeling as though i was abandoned... yes, i said it. Abandoned. Why? Because when that last page rolled up, i had to admit that the story was over and it's the last thing i wanted.

4.5 sexy dreams

To say that this book was hot is an understatement. I couldn't get enough. Lynn and Carson's chemistry is undeniable, and i rooted for them to make it. As short as this review is, trust me, every moment that i spend reading it was a thrill. It had many elements going for it, drama, angst, forbidden romances and always trying to deny the feelings that exist between two people who wish they could fight it. As the first novel i've read from Ava Harrison, i can't wait to read more from her in the future.

I've read several student-teacher romances but none quite like this one. In ILLICIT, Ava Harrison introduces us to Carson and Lynn, both of whom were broken and alone. On a beautiful night, these two strangers found each other and found a connection that transcended time and space. Or maybe I'm being influenced by all of their talk about stars and astronomy. They share a night of untold passion and go their separate ways. That is until Monday, which is the start of school and Carson is Lynn's history teacher.

But wait, it's okay! Carson's really not a perv because Lynn is actually almost 19 years old. Phew! I have no idea how old he was (I don't remember it being mentioned), but he just finished college so I'm going to say around 22. Anyhoo, this didn't turn into the sex-filled story I was expecting. The author instead focused on the characters' feelings and injected drama and unexpected revelations to shake things up. This plot centered around pain, abandonment, lies, deceit, betrayals, and was full of so much heart. That's not to say that sex wasn't a factor here, because it was, but it wasn't descriptive or as exciting or as essential as the rest of the plot.

Honestly, I did suffer a huge disconnect with this story. I really enjoyed the beginning, but somewhere in the middle I lost the plot. The end was sort of okay for me and I think that was in large part due to the loose ends that were left dangling. I'm not a big fan of wrapping things up in a neat bow just to end the story without getting any subtext. Although ILLICIT wasn't a clear winner for me, I did appreciate the author's writing and I'll definitely be giving her work another shot.

This book started off so strong and unfortunately by the middle, I was bored more than anything.

It was written really well and I loved the dual perspective. I also love the forbidden romance thing especially when it is a student/teacher thing. But is it really that forbidden when the teacher is only a couple years older? The second he mentions that teaching wasn't his passion, I already had the book pegged and guessed every single thing that was going to happen.

Their initial meeting was super romantic and I felt the connection between H and h. I never felt that again.

I could go on and on with the things I wished would have happened but I feel like it would be lengthy.

I will give Ava another shot. I really did enjoy her writing, this one was just a miss for me.
