I purchased the Intel Core i5 4690K after using an AMD FX6300 for two years, the purchase wasn't planned as I killed my previous motherboard and wasn't about to spend money to buy a new motherboard for an old processor so I ended up upgrading from the AM3+ socket to a 1150 (Z97) solution instead. In terms of responsiveness in Windows I cannot tell a difference, there has been little to no improvement (that I can perceive) in day to day use for regular desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, Winamp or any other commonly used application. Where this sucker starts to shine is when I use it for gaming, I play a large amount of games and thus far I have noticed upwards of a 40 - 50% performance increase from my FX6300 keeping the same GTX760OC.

CPU: i5 4690k @ 4.5GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H-BK
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2 x 8GB @ 1600Mhz (10-10-10-30)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 OC
Storage: MX100 128GB & Western Digital Black 1TB
PSU: Corsair HX650
Case: Fractial Design Define R4 (2 x Front Intake, 1 x Rear Exhaust, 1 x Bottom Mounted Intake PSU)

In the following games I can sustain 120FPS on the maximum settings with the exclusion of World of Warcraft which requires some tweaking to get above a constant 80FPS for 25m raiding, League of Legends is capped and runs at 144FPS at maximum detail settings on both ARAM and Summoners Rift. World of Warcraft runs at between 75 - 280FPS, I capped this value at 130FPS and most of the time I do not see it move from 120 or above unless I am raiding with 24 people.

Perfect bang for your buck.

in most applications and most importantly gaming, this CPU performs just as well as the more expensive i7-4790k (when overclock*)

it overclocks like a trooper, I was easily able to get 4.5 on all cores at 1.216v with temps never exceeding 75c with my Enermax ETS-T40B cooler.

for anyone building a gaming PC I definitely recommend this CPU

Really fast and smooth core.

Installation was straight forward and it worked flawless out of the box. Comes with a stock intel Core cooler as well with pre applied Heat sync to get started. I used a third party cooler. The little one it comes with is probably good for default use but if you are overclocking will probably want something better. But its nice they throw it in, Always good to have spare,

Comes with Instructions and info, The Intel sticker was on back of the manual just in case anyone is looking for it.

Fastest and smoothest core i ever owned! Can push it a bit more as well. Running @4.4 with l;ow temps and stable.

Seems good, only bummer is the boost to 3.9 is only good on 2 of the 4 cores. Im only getting 39/39/38/37 multiplier. My co-worker is getting 39/39/39/38 on his locked version. You would almost think that they would keep the better cpu's for the unlocked versions. Your paying the price to get as much as you can out of these things. Maybe im splitting hairs.....

impressed by it, bought it instead of i7 for gaming and rarely go over 60% usage even without graphic card for now.
