Upgraded an i3 with this CPU. The change was dramatic. Although it is only a dual core chip, it shoved my index for Windows 8 up to 7.1. Great for editing video.

HASH(0xa539f6a8) out of 5 stars Granted I built it like 7 years ago but it still handles any game ... April 26 2016

I bought this chip when it was first released. In my rig it is coupled with a P55 board and I run an NVIDIA GTX580 with 12gb ram. When I built it years ago I built it for extreme gaming speeds and it did it flawlessly. I also overclocked it extensively after adding a water cooling system and and got extremely high performance from it. Granted I built it like 7 years ago but it still handles any game you could throw at it. Overall it is a very robust chipset and even by todays standards can still perform as good as many I7 sets. For the price you can't go wrong.

purchased used for 55 bones, it is a great processor for price! installed on the elitegroup H55H-m micro atx mobo with 8 gigs of ram and a128g ssd drive, it is fast, small and extremely quiet set up! the cpu fan is a clp0556 and is sooo quite! the power supply is a 500w fractal and is also very very quiet. this a a great setup! added my 6024E NI pci daq card and is working fine!

HASH(0xa539fef4) out of 5 stars Good performance, decent video Dec 12 2010

Coupled with an H55 motherboard, this processor will also do your onboard video. In desktop situations that don't require intense 3d acceleration, this is fine. That means it's fine for your grandmother, your uncle, really, anybody that doesn't plan on intense gaming, it's fine. It even handles some games on lower settings. But if you want to game, you probably aren't buying an i5 anyway. And if you are, you're certainly going to grab a discrete card.
However, this processor lives up to its marketing. Simply put, if you are trying to put a decent computer that will last a few years, or you are building some microATX boxes, this is your processor.
HASH(0xa539ff18) out of 5 stars Excellent mid-range Processor July 4 2013

I've been running this processor for about 3 years with an ASUS PRO P7P55D-E MotherBd. I'd recommend this one to anyone that's looking for a solid non-gamer Desktop build. I'm not a gamer but I use the Desktop several times daily.
