Product Description

In an instant, Cassie must put aside all her day-to-day worries: her looks, a job she likes (well deals with), what to wear. At twenty-nine, she receives sudden, life-changing news. She realizes that her everyday life with her fiancé, Jake, was pretty amazing. Who cares about a sarcastic boss or a promotion when losing everything has become a terrifying reality?

Cassie’s shocking news infiltrates the lives of everyone she loves, particularly Jake and her estranged sister, Sandy. Jake wants to be strong for Cassie, but this unexpected turn brings back painful memories—and a terrible secret he’s shared with no one. Sandy, who ran away to pursue stardom, is called home to face those she left behind. The golden child of the family, Sandy fell from her pedestal long ago. Will she be able to face her own failures?

As Cassie struggles against an uncertain future, Jake and Sandy battle with the demons of the past. All three will learn valuable lessons about love, forgiveness and appreciating the days we’re given.

Disappointing ...
I, honestly, expected much more. The book's reviews promise an engaging, interesting story. It wasn't.
Maybe the lack of writing skills is to blame. Overall, it is a waste of time. I couldn't finish the book. I was bored ans unimpressed.

HASH(0xa0fdc8ac) out of 5 stars Not To Be Missed April 18 2015
By Denise Van plew - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
Oh my once I picked up this novel it was one of the those that just did not let me go until I reached the end. At first I thought when it I started it in the first couple of pages it was gonna be just another contemporary novel, finding out about one of the main characters and her finance Jake. Cassie tells about their cute little story of how they met as she is getting up for work. Her frustrations are real wanting to reach another level at her job, the desire to have a different relationship with her sister than what it is and planning for a wedding seems to be taking its toll. Great dialogue and interaction with the past to present flows so nicely that is why you are going along without realizing until the unthinkable happens to Cassie. The event will change the lives of three people so profoundly. What they thought they knew will be revealed that is really nothing to what they will come to realize. Alot of soul searching with the what ifs and the what nows. Life altering events have a way of making you take stock in what is important verses what you thought that this is brought into focus so clearly in this story. When all this is happening you have become so intertwined with the characters that you too will experience a range of emotions. One scene in particular when the sister Sandy and Cassie speak in person for the first time in many years, I say bravo to the realism that is in their interaction with especially what Cassie says to her. The outcome for all three is spot on, happy with the way this author has taken them emerging differently but for the better by far.

An amazing book, I could not put it down! Cassie, a 29 year old New Yorker about to get married finds out life changing news. The news also affects her fiancé and sister in unexpected ways. As the story unfolds, so does the emotional journey you take with the characters. I found myself deeply involved, caught up in their lives. A very powerful book.

HASH(0xa0fdcd38) out of 5 stars An Uplifting Story That Will Capture Your Heart March 25 2015

Format: Kindle Edition
A beautiful story about the importance of living life to its fullest and reconciling with the people we love. Author Lisa Wainland weaves a powerful story about how Cassie's life-changing news brings her family together and forces her to examine what's important in her life. Cassie handles the news with just the right amount of fear and reflection and her gestures to thank the people who care for her inspire us all to think differently about those who make our lives better.

You'll also keep reading for the beautiful imagery of New York—it made me feel as though I was actually there on those crisp autumn days. IRON BUTTERFLY is an uplifting story that will capture your heart.

HASH(0xa0fdf114) out of 5 stars Great book that you won't be able to put down until the last word! March 1 2015

Format: Kindle Edition
The Iron Butterfly used creative and colorful language and made it easy for me (the reader) to visualize every scene. Just when you think that you have figured out what will happen next the author throws in a new twist. This book was a quick page turner and kept me on my toes. I loved the way the characters and storyline mixed serious concerns (health issues), emotion, and comedy. I wanted to laugh and cry with the characters.
