...but she does!

Now, my wife has been a vegetarian for the vast majority of her life, and she's lactose-intolerant, so vegan recipes are right up her alley. Myself, I decided to give up meat just over a year ago, and a vegan friend suggested Isa's site and books as his go-to resource for recipes. Since that time, we've done well over 100 of Isa's (and Terry's) recipes from the site and previous books, such as Veganomicon. Almost all of them have been good if not great, and only a handful didn't get put on the list of keepers.

I got this latest book for my wife for Christmas, and I'll just say that every single recipe we've tried so far has been pretty much amazing. Don't get me wrong - the older recipes are good, but this just somehow seems a cut above the rest (a handful are re-used, mind you, such as the classic beet burger recipe). If you have any interest in vegan cooking, I'd say you should start with this book, and then expand into the older books when you're ready for more recipes.

I own veganomicon and Appetite for Reduction and I love both books. Veganomicon is pretty much a Vegan Bible although I find some recipes daunting due to time. Isa Does It is so convenient, practical, and yet inventive and exciting. Isa's cheeky demeanour is still present in this cookbook. She offers a ton of helpful tips on how to be organized, how to prep ingredients beforehand (ex. Lentils, grains, soaking cashews) so that your meal can come together quickly. She uses practical ingredients and kitchen tools. A great buy for any Vegan. If you make the banana chocolate swirl bread (seriously, way too easy and far too delicious) double the recipe! All the recipes I have tried have satisfied me and my meat loving Hubby. Oh and the pictures are beyond gorgeous. There are many more pics than her previous books (I'd say 75% of the recipes in this book). Enjoy!!

This is a great book I tried more than 10 recipes so far and they are so yummy. Isa really does it and so far does it all. I love the fact that her recipes are filled with humour. It's fun to do and fun to read. Finally, I like the pictures that are in the book and they give you great presentation ideas.

Isa is the queen of vegan cookbooks. I own almost all of her books, and they just keep getting better. Isa Does It is probably her best yet. The recipes are creative, delicious, and best of all, easy. Many recipes you can throw together in 30 minutes or less and still look like you've just cooked up a gourmet meal. She uses soaked cashews a lot to make creamy sauces and I love that, however obviously it would be problematic for those with nut allergies. Who knew blended up cashews would make such a decadent cream sauce though? Awesome. I've made probably between 15-20 recipes out of the book so far, a few from every section, and everything has been great. You can't go wrong with this book, highly recommended for both those new to vegan cooking and those who are experienced and need new, fresh recipes.

Amazing. This author is marvelous. I planned to buy any books of here. I do not feel that this book has been written only for publishers incomes but really to helps the vegan cause and the love of cooking. I am no vegan yet, but I do like the vegan kitchen, especially because of Isa.

I also own Veganomicon and must say that I prefer this book over the other. Although they both produce delicious end results I find that the ingredients in this book are much easier for me to find in my very small town. Many of the recipes in this book have a faster prep/cook time which I appreciate. I find that as a vegan if I don't prep in advance I don't always eat as well as I should. This book definitely allows me to get better meals into my system without advance planning and shopping. I also enjoy that there are lots of great photos and that Isa provides so much helpful tips like how to maximize time when making a recipe and tofu butchery.

Another great book by Isa to add to the collection. Doesn't top Vegan with a Vengeance or Veganomicon, but I've already dog-eared half the recipes in here and Isa offers substitutions/tips for many recipes in case you don't eat soy, gluten, etc. This might be a superficial complaint but the smell of the pages is quite strong (maybe it's the ink or the paper type?) but this will hopefully fade in time.

This is an amazing cookbook for those who are looking to learn more about how to make outstanding, quick and simple vegan meals. I was transitioning into becoming a vegan from being a vegetarian and was going to give up. I didn't think it was possible to have such delicious vegan meals, but this cookbook helped me break through. Every dish has been simply amazing. I've even impressed my chef fiancee with my culinary creations - all thanks to Isa!

All you need is a great, easy to clean blender and this cookbook and let the vegan feasts begin! :)
