HASH(0xb3c9ac48) out of 5 stars Another great pick.... Aug. 25 2007
By Lorie Schinko - Published on
Format: Paperback
I looked at many other books on Kimono, some very expensive, beautiful hardcover volumes in fact...(I confess, if I see a book I like in a bookstore, I go directly to Amazon, the prices are so much better...)
I was satisfied with this book, it had enough imagery and variety in it for me,should I wish to design my own Kimono. Its great as an artist's reference book, the price is good too. If you want a book with more historical facts, with meanings of colors and symbols, seasonal kimono styles, etc, there are books out there that are really loaded with all kinds of fascinating info. I wish I could afford one of those, but this one does the job for my purposes.

HASH(0xb3c9e564) out of 5 stars Good book Feb. 8 2011

Format: Paperback
This is a great book if you are looking for reference photos of kimono. There is very little text in this book, just nice large clear collection of kimono photos. I have this as an art reference book. The book is not overly large, but that's what makes it affordable. Many of the kimono in this book are historical pieces.

HASH(0xb3c9e0f0) out of 5 stars Beautiful Images of Edo period kimono July 19 2013
By Momo - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book has a lot of really beautiful photographs of kimono from the mid to late Edo period. I was really hoping there would be older ones from the Momoyama period or earlier, so I was a little disappointed, however the Edo period or later is what most people think of when kimono are mentioned. It's well worth buying, but if you are trying to do historical research be aware that the oldest kimono in the book are from around 1781, and most of the ones featured are from the 1800s. There is also not a whole lot of information about each kimono, but it's very enjoyable to look through and an excellent reference for art.
